It was a major oart of the flavor of the game. Allowing a human to multiclass would be like allowing one to have infravision, some sort of weird quirk of fate in the cosmos. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : vader42xx Date : 05-19-04 05:38 PM Many years ago I ran a 2e game where I allowed humans to multi-class and removed racial level limites from the game...and I'll never do either again. You'll find (or at least I did) that humans become extinct and everyone goes for the demihuman races to gain the advantage of racial powers, etc. On the other hand, if you just allow humans to multi-class then the other races fall behind as everyone wants to advance several classes at once when they know they won't have level limits to deal with. At the end of the day, however, it's your game so if that's what makes you and your group happy, run with it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 05-22-04 12:19 AM I prefer to keep the multi-classing restricted to demi-humans only. However, I don't mind removing level limits with two modifications: I use the optional rule that raises the max level limit based on prime requisite, and to go past that it costs you 2x more XP per level. I haven't found the problems Vader has experianced (yet), so maybe this works. Your actual mileage may vary. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Lina_Inverse Date : 05-22-04 02:49 AM i let humans stick to dual classing, its pretty much better than multiclassing.(can you say d10s for your first 9 levels,i know you can)stat requirements are killer though. heres the secret to keeping humans balenced.actully hit lvl16+ yeah yeah yeah i know what someone might say,but being the humans only ability it should come into play faster than after a 4-5 year caimpaign.though i still like the x2exp rule after level X. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Tas Date : 05-22-04 07:59 PM We allow humans to dual-class only, and demi humans to multi-class. We use the level limits in the UA, with a few mods based on our own level limit beliefs. (I asked for the group to use the x2 xp cost for levels above the limits imposed, but in the end we decided not to go with them). (We also house-designed Assassins, Barbarians, Cavaliers and Monks. The cavalier and Barbarian are heavily influenced by the articles that appeared in Dragon Magazine. The Assassin is based on ideas from White Dwarf (An UK RPG magazine that used to cater to all RPGs and is now a one company mag), and the Monk on our personal ideas of how the Monk should play).
