I'm in a battle w/ 12 carnivorous plants (Mod. B3)....Can't I just have my guys burn the plants??? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : vader42xx Date : 05-24-04 02:28 AM I don't remember where but someplace in the rules (2e at least) it mentions using torches as clubs. I thought it was in the core books someplace but I may well be wrong. In any case it was something like just use the torch as a club and add 1 or 2 points of fire damage for 1d3 attacks. After that the torch goes out and is pretty much useless for anything else as it was never made to be a weapon. As they are fighting plants you may want to up that damage a bit but I wouldn't increase it by much as the torch is already doing club damage. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-24-04 02:37 AM If you were trying to burn an inanimate plant, the no roll would be needed. However, these things are actual monsters, so yes, you do need to roll an attack. I will look up the damage for a torch and post it in a bit. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Algolei Date : 05-24-04 04:34 AM We used to say that torches did damage as clubs (1d6) with an additional point of damage from the flame (total: 1d6+1). Actually setting something on fire, well, that's another thing entirely. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-24-04 04:45 AM Algolei has it. According to PO: COmbat and Tactics, a tourch can act as a club (1d6) or if burning, as a club plus an additional point of fire damage. It has no chance to set material on fire (Unless extremely flammable.) simply by being used as a weapon against them. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 05-24-04 12:01 PM So basically, use as a weapon for monsters...that's it.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Falstaff the Fighter Date : 05-24-04 04:43 PM Yes, a torch was bascailly just a club if used to fight with, although certain monster did take extra damage from fire (Such as certain ice creatures and plants, for example.). Remember though, only the bonus +1 from a lit torch is considered fire damage. Our personal house rule for torches is that they act as a club for proficiency, but deal 1d4 damage (All flame.). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : beavis123 Date : 05-24-04 04:59 PM Thread Title : maybe You could throw a flammable oil flask on the plants and then try the torch maneuver. I wonder if the burning plants or fungus would cause fumes that would be irritating to the PCs till the smoked cleared. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Dugald the Lexicographer Date : 05-27-04 01:39 AM Irritating? Try intoxicating! Could be one heck of an interesting roleplaying session! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Varl Date : 05-27-04 10:54 AM Depending on the season, a torch (or any flaming weapon for that matter) would be a nasty weapon to use during the dry season. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Algolei Date : 06-01-04 04:36 AM Originally posted by Falstaff the Fighter Algolei has it. I'm gonna have to go back and read my Combat & Tactics more closely now to see what other good ideas of mine they came up with. ;) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:20 AM.
