Thread Title : Two Hands

Ok, now I know I'm having a bad day. In addition to not remembering where the hard to find "multiple attack" rule is (see the other thread) I also can't find anything in the PHB or DMG about using two hands to attack with a one handed weapon (ie: a medium character using a longsword two-handed). Unless I'm totally losing my mind this was not just a 3e concept so can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks. :)

The only reference that I recall was the ability to wield the Bastard Sword with either one or two hands.

Bastard with one hand was treated as a Longsword, with Two hands as a Bastard Sword.

Multiple attacks... as in 3/2 or 2/1?

Or as in two-swords fighting?

Both are in the DMG.

What I'm looking for is a reference to what happens when you use a one-handed weapon with two-hands. I'm almost sure 2e had something about that (you did more damage, etc). If such a rule doesn't exist I can easily just use it but I'd like to find what the rules say before I go house ruling things that are already covered. :)

i think that was in one of the complete handbooks or in the combat options hardback.

i don't know off the top of my head. sorry.

I believe what you're looking for is listed in the Players Option Combat and Tactics.  I think it states something to the effect that specializing in this style of fighting (using a one handed weapon with two hands) drops the weapon's speed by 3 and the character gains a +1 on damage.

Thanks, I'll keep looking through other books. But it seems what I'm looking for isn't in the PHB or DMG. Odd, I was almost sure it was. But it's been a few years, so I'm off to look some more. :)
