Thread Title : Ameba-like undead from old versions...

I was wondering... in a Compendium adventure (from the old version of D&D) I once played with some of my friends, we came across some strange undead creatures who looked like amebas and could shapechange and drain your blood. (And they were really hard to kill too!) Does anybody know what they were called?

Just out of curiosity...

I'd say it was the Vampiric Ooze, but I don't recall if that creature could shapechange...
