But: I'm a 3e player and I have absolutely no idea how to read the 1e statistic blocks. example: Derala Ice Elf, Skill 5/2 mage/assasin Stats: ST: 15, IT: 17, IN: 14, SM: 14, D: 16, A 17 HTK: 16, AC: 9 Furthermore, for a lot of entries, most stats are missing, probably there are default values, but what are they? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Elendur Date : 07-12-04 06:24 AM That stat block puzzles me. What book does this come from? It doesn't really look 1e. The term for wizard in 1e was magic user (M-U). Multiclass levels had to be the same. And while you have 6 ability scores, they don't seem like the normal ones. IN: Intuition? A: Agility? Could this be an unlicensed 3rd party product? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : vader42xx Date : 07-12-04 09:54 AM It is a third party product for sure and it looks like the work of Role-aids to me (though I'm sure others used that format as well). The idea was to make products that worked with AD&D but didn't need the license (kind of like a loop-hole open game license). As for those stats: Skill would be classes, 5th level magic-user/2nd level assassin HTK is simply "hits to kill" and it means hit points. Ac is, of course, armor class. Now that stats I don't really remember but there is one for each of the AD&D stats and they have the same ranges. I'm sure the book will tell you what each one is and then it shouldn't be hard to match them with the D&D counterpart. Anyway, just take the 1e phb (if you have it) and use it to decode what you've got and then you can put it next to your 3e books and work out what you want to convert. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Kamelion Date : 07-12-04 10:21 AM My best guesses: ST = Strength IT = Intelligence IN = Inuition = Wisdom SM = Stamina = Constitution D = Dexterity A = Appearance = Charisma (The order in 1e was Str, Int, Wis, Dex, Con, Cha, so this follows the above order with the exception of Dex and Con.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : squishycube Date : 07-12-04 01:31 PM Ok, thanks. I'm a lot further now. It's indeed a role aid, unlicensed like you said. I don't have a 1e players handbook btw. (Do have the Dungeoneers Surival Guide and the Dungeon Masters Guide) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : vader42xx Date : 07-12-04 02:39 PM I think you can pick up a pdf of the 1e phb at www.rpgnow.com for a few bucks. Good luck and glad I could help. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : rogueattorney Date : 07-12-04 04:24 PM Originally posted by Kamelion My best guesses: ST = Strength IT = Intelligence IN = Inuition = Wisdom SM = Stamina = Constitution D = Dexterity A = Appearance = Charisma (The order in 1e was Str, Int, Wis, Dex, Con, Cha, so this follows the above order with the exception of Dex and Con.) Str, Int, Wis, Con, Dex, Cha is, by the way, the order the attributes first appeared in 1974 OD&D. I imagine they switched Con and Dex after adding the Thief class so that all the prime requisite attributes would be together.
