The simple answer is not a damn thing. ;)

Some of the art was different (including the cover art) and the layout was different in places (mostly due to the different art). I'm told that some edits were made and some errata corrected but I've never seen any evidence of it. The sword of sharpness still says it can't cut off your head but that it can cut off your neck for instance. ;)

They should never have called it a revised edition...it was simply the X printing with new art. :)

I hear occasionally that they did fix some mistakes, but I haven't been able to find any of these fixes, and even if they did fix some things they didn't fix a single thing I needed help understanding.

I dislike the black covers, though, so that would be my only personal consideration if I were buying a book.

2e revised doesn't always mean the second printing to some...for some it means 2.5, which for some means inclusive of the optional rules such as Skills and Powers, and such...in which case you'll find a lot of hatred (by some) for those rules.  I liked to stick to the core rules and disliked Many of the optional rules for 2e/2.5 edition.

One major change between the first printing and the revised printings was that I thought the art was much better in the first printing of 2e.

You seem to be confusing the revised 2e and the Player's Options books. Those are not the same thing. The revised 2e is the black cover PHB and DMG which was nothing more than another printed with different art (though TSR said it was more).

Player's Option, on the other hand, was more or less 2.5 AD&D and it changed a good part of the game (for better or worse). :)
