Heading off on a new adventure, we found ourselves reasonable short of fodder material and were looking at hiring a couple NPC's to lessen the burden. The contention ... what to hire to round out the group. Currently we consist of a human Paladin, a 1/2elf Ranger, an elven F/MU/Th, a gnome F/Th, a human cleric and a 1/2ogre fighter. All of us are low levels (the cleric is the highest at 3rd) so it's unlikely we'd be able to hire a power-house champion. We see the obvious need for a straight MU and maybe a little more tank-potential ... but in your estimation(s), what would be the best way to round out our party? Any advice in both classes and races would be greatly appreciated. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Warhead Date : 07-30-04 03:02 PM Thread Title : Re: Missing Talent Human wizard and Dwarven priest...that should sort you out. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Dielzen Date : 07-30-04 11:34 PM I'd go gnome over human with that group (more diversity), but agree on the dwarven cleric (as they can double as a fighter quite often) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Warhead Date : 07-31-04 05:43 AM You're stuck with Illusionist then though (and Artificer & Alchemist) if you're playing the variant rules. I'd rather have an all-rounder or one of the more offensive Specialist Mages. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : shadowelf Date : 07-31-04 10:03 AM Although you're short in the wizard line, what is a low-level MU going to give you? If you're playing 2e then I would suggest a specialist enchanter - with a Charm Person and a Sleep handy you'd be beefed up quite a bit. You could take a priest - I assume you'd get one of your religion. (Paladin and Cleric are the same, I take it?) If I were the DM I'd be inclined to give you a low-level tag-along free of charge - all you have to do is return him unharmed to his temple. Good role-playing potential. I don't like the idea of "hiring" a cleric of a different religion. I'd be inclined in many ways to take a couple of dwarf fighters. Then you should be prepared to soak up a bit of opposing magic use. And you've got weight of numbers for straight fights or if someone gets caught by a trap. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:19 AM.
