No mention of him appears after he founds the Republic in 829 AC. Also, was he a wizard? I always assumed that since he formed a magocracy that he would be, but in G:KoM he is depicted as a fighter(picture on pg. 14). If he was a fighter and was still alive in AC 858 when the nobility was reserved for wizards, was he expelled in AC 859(hard to believe since the country is still named after him)? If a wizard, what then? Lichdom perhaps? I just think it strange that he disappears from history. Any ideas? (if a Lich perhaps he is hiding under the Great School waiting for a high-level party to discover him...) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Spellweaver Date : 07-31-04 03:19 AM Thread Title : Re: Alexander Glantri question(s) Originally posted by Geogrere Ziacara What is the fate of Alexander Glantri? Good question. I found this history of the House of Glantri at the site of the Glantrian Personnel Division - a great site by the way. http://www.geocities.com/principalities_of_glantri/histories/houses/h_glantri.htm (if a Lich perhaps he is hiding under the Great School waiting for a high-level party to discover him...) Interesting thought. I like the idea that he is still around to keep an eye on the nation he founded. Perhaps, like the lich lords of Lankhmar (another setting) he will rise up to the defence if the city is ever attacked? :-) Jesper -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : havard Date : 07-31-04 12:26 PM You are right, the GPD is an awsome website. Even though I have visited it before, I didn't realize how full of information it was untill now. :) Havard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 08-01-04 05:34 AM Originally posted by havard You are right, the GPD is an awsome website. Even though I have visited it before, I didn't realize how full of information it was untill now. :) For more thoughts on what happened to ol' Alexander Glantri, check out a related site to the GPD, Harri Maki's Houses of Glantri (http://www.geocities.com/hihama/). He's done as complete a workup of Glantrian history as has ever been. Some of it has been incorporated into other people's works, some of it not, and it's largely "uncanon" (filling in the blanks around the "canon" dates), but it's useful all the same. For Alex's fate, in particular, this is what he has suggested: 835 AC In the end of year one of the most dramatic Council meetings takes place. There are no controversial issues to debate and all is going smoothly until Vortram suddenly blasts Alexander Glantri to ashes. Before others get Vortram down, he also manages to kill Birkai Virayana. Vortram is promptly executed the day after, declared insane by the three remaining Council members. Lucchino di Sfonti is appointed new Chancellor, becoming Thyatians' and Kerendans' representative after Glantri. The following week the Council pass a law in memoriam of Lord Glantri and the land is officially renamed Republic of Glantri. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : stanles Date : 08-01-04 05:38 AM I always wondered if the bronze golem in WotI might not contain some apsect of Alexander in it. The motivation of whoever did it or the reasons if Alexander did it voluntarily could be interesting I thought. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : hihama Date : 08-01-04 05:52 AM Thanks Andrew for advertizing my site. I was trying to do it myself but you were faster. Anyway you should check especially Glantrian political history -files from my site, there are some more information about Alexander Glantri there. They were started with Giovanni Porpora some years ago, unfortunately we never had time to finished them. These are wholly uncannon of course as Andrew said, but at least everything should be coherent with everything else I have written. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:22 AM.
