Hi, I've registered on these boards for the sake of just one message... this one. In light of the apparent success of the resurrected game of Paranoia, I'd like to address the matter of the OTHER classic humorous RPG of record: Tales from the Floating Vagabond. The game has not been seen in print since before WotC/Hasbro bought Avalon Hill, and this is simply not an acceptable fate for one of the great "just have fun" RPGs of all time. I don't know if this is a situation that can be altered by raising our voices in protest, both over emails to WotC and via this forum, but I'd sure love to find out. Obviously, one fan couldn't do it alone - that's your cue to jump in! So reply here, email WotC, and let's see if we can't bring another classic back to the game tables. Even if they choose not to reprint it themselves, they could at least license it out to a company that would - perhaps 9th Level Games or Mongoose Publishing (they make the new Paranoia, why not?). Last call at the Floating Vagabond happened far too long ago - it's time for First Call! Who's thirsty? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : vader42xx Date : 08-21-04 06:20 PM Good game though funny RPGs aren't really my thing. Still, when I get in that sort of mood I just play the original one. It's not the kind of game that really needed (or should have had) a lot of suppliments anyway. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Rian Lightblade Date : 08-23-04 01:59 PM I'm Thirsty! Although for me Last call at the Vagabond was 2 1/2 years ago. Which was the last time I ran/palyed TFFV. But I totally agree. I would love to see its return as long as it is reprinted with its original system. If I see a copy of d20 TFFV it'll be time to call in the Space Nazis or worse Trask Industiries!!! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : vader42xx Date : 08-23-04 03:06 PM Anybody got a complete list of what was published for this game and the high notes of each product? :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : SnowbearK Date : 08-24-04 06:47 AM Wasn't Tales from the Floating Vagabond was a WEST END GAMES rpg? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : q'afuu Date : 08-24-04 08:44 AM Nope. Avalon Hill, as mentioned above, just like Runequest. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Kelliach Date : 08-24-04 09:43 AM I had almost forgotten about Tales From the Floating Vagabond. You've brought back a lot of great memories. As wierd and funny RPGs go, I had more sucess using this one with my players than I did with Paranoia or Toon. God I haven't seen my books for years. I've gotta find them. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:19 AM.
