I've recently been picking up all the Hollow World material I can find. I think it is a great setting and would love to see some d20 converions. I just found this forum. Have I missed anything col conversions? Ah, the Hollow World! I'm still pondering on conversions for that one. I did some conversions on Mystaran elves for 3e. Also, someone (Jesper?) did the conversions for dwarves. And we had Rakastas. All of this can probably be found at dnd.starflung.com There, you can also check out the Mystara 3e project site which has even more stuff. Note that you can also find 3e conversions on the regular site, so make sure to check both. Feel free to start some conversion threads here too, just let us know what you want converted and I'm sure there is plenty of people who'd wanna help :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : geministranger Date : 09-24-04 07:35 PM Thread Title : game plan What I would like to do is organize a campaign where players start with Keep on the Borderlands, go on to Isle of Dread, find entrance to the Hollow World where they eventually explore the Savage Coast and become inflicted with the Red Curse which is slowly spreading across the inner world. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : havard Date : 09-25-04 09:23 AM What I would like to do is organize a campaign where players start with Keep on the Borderlands, go on to Isle of Dread, find entrance to the Hollow World where they eventually explore the Savage Coast and become inflicted with the Red Curse which is slowly spreading across the inner world. Having some sort of gateway from the Isle of Dredd to the Hollow World might be interesting. It makes alot of sense too, given the ancient world factor prominent in both areas. Another way to get your party to the HW is using the HWA-series, an excellent scenario trilogy. Unless I am reading you wrong, it seems like you have the Savage Coast located inside the Hollow World? What made you move it there? It all sounds like it could become a quite interesting campaign! :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : geministranger Date : 09-25-04 05:55 PM Thread Title : Hodge Podge World Unless I am reading you wrong, it seems like you have the Savage Coast located inside the Hollow World? What made you move it there? You are correct, I am moving the Sav Coast indoors. Why? For both style and circumstance. I like the atmosphere of the Hollow World better than the Known World of Mystara. Exploring primal, mystical, lost worlds where you never know what lies beyond the next jungle, forest, desert plain or mountain range. I also like the Sav Coast for the same reason. Plus it adds the element of ships, pirates and the age of exploration. So that and the fact I bought Red Steel setting and Hollow World setting at the same time (found them at a toy store selling for peanuts) and have no other Mystara material, it just makes sense. I think I might throw EBERRON into the mix as well. I would trade the urban feel for the lost world feel I like. It would be like a grim and gritty Atlantis. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : havard Date : 09-26-04 08:49 AM I like the atmosphere of the Hollow World better than the Known World of Mystara. Sounds interesting! Since you noted that you only own the Savage Coast and Hollow World supplements, you might want to check out the WotC site downloads: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads There should be useful stuff for you both under the 'Mystara' and the 'Savage Coast' sections. Also, there is plenty of useful stuff over at http://dnd.starflung.com Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : geministranger Date : 09-26-04 11:12 AM Thanks, I've been to the downloads before but never thought to check there for Maztica material. This would fit well too. And I've been to the VoP site before. But there is SOOO much to page through I don't know were to start. Perhaps this is another reason why I have only the two settings. Too much information spoils the soup. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : havard Date : 09-26-04 11:54 AM Thanks, I've been to the downloads before but never thought to check there for Maztica material. This would fit well too. I've thought about this myself, but never gotten around to it. Should be quite userful for fleshing out the Azcan and Oltec cultures, eh? And probably the Savage Baronies too... Hmmm, maybe I should take a closer look... :) And I've been to the VoP site before. But there is SOOO much to page through I don't know were to start. Perhaps this is another reason why I have only the two settings. Too much information spoils the soup. I know what you mean. One good place to start could be the Mystaran Net Almanacs. They provide a good overview of both the HW and the surface world. The first ones aren't as good as the latest ones though, but again the last editions are huge, so it is easy to get swamped with info. Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : chimpman Date : 09-26-04 03:15 PM I agree, sounds like a fun campaign. You might also want to grab Gaz 13 (the Shadow Elves) from the Vaults. Both the player's guide and DM's guide can be found there. It might provide you with some cavern crawling goodness (from the Thanegioth to the HW). Another idea to get the PCs from the surface to the interior would be to move Atraughin's Mystic Conveyor from the Atraughin Plains to the Isle of Dread. It could fit there just as well as in the plains (and it would be even more hidden from the rest of the Known World). It is basically a giant golden elevator that takes the PCs from the surface, through the crust of the planet, and deposits them in Azcan lands (in the HW). Maybe you could mix the two ideas. Have the Conveyor make its first stop in shadow elf caverns (the scenery is still "Aztec like") and let the PCs explore under the surface for a bit. When they get back in to return to the surface they find that the Conveyor has one more stop to make... yet deeper. Tada! They're in the Hollow World. Anyway let us know how your campaign is developing. I'm sure there are plenty here who can help with fleshing out ideas. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : havard Date : 09-27-04 05:13 AM The Shadowelf Gaz can also be accessed from WotC's site. Another use for that Gaz is that it makes an excellent sourcebook for the Schattenalfen of the Hollow World. Most of that material can be used as is when detailing Schattenalfen society. Also feel free to check out the downloads section of my blackmoor website (http://www.geocities.com/havardfaa/blackmoor.html), which also have alot of Mystara related goodies. I'll take a look at the Gaz 13 for the cavernous goodies. But if the shadow elves are anything like the drow, i'll have to pass on them. I'm tired of the cliches run amok the drow have become. Hey Håvard, I checked out your site. Many goodies there INDEED! Where is the WILDERLANDS campaign from? Since we are on the topic of worlds and looking at maps, I would like to take a moment to point out something I think is remarkable indeed. Our friend Håvard here is nearly on the other side of the planet from me. Yet here we are carrying on a conversation as if there were no distance to speak of. A fond Hello and Good Day to you in Norway, from a gamer in the USA! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : chimpman Date : 09-27-04 10:04 PM Hey, thanks for the info. Fear not. I think I can say that the Shadow Elves are definately NOT the drow ;). Enjoy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : havard Date : 09-28-04 07:28 AM I'll take a look at the Gaz 13 for the cavernous goodies. But if the shadow elves are anything like the drow, i'll have to pass on them. I'm tired of the cliches run amok the drow have become. As Chimpman said, the Shadow Elves are very different from the Drow. And if you don't like Drow, I think you'll find that alot of Mystara fans feel the same way. :) Hey Håvard, I checked out your site. Many goodies there INDEED! Where is the WILDERLANDS campaign from? Thanks :) The Wilderlands Campaign is only remotely connected to Mystara through the fact that when Judges Guild published the First Fantasy Campaign for Blackmoor, they put Blackmoor just northeast of their own setting, the Wilderlands. That is why they stuck the Valley of the Ancients onto the blackmoor map, since that valley is a central part of the Wilderlands. Then, trough the D&D Blackmoor adventures, Blackmoor, and the Valley of the Ancients were connected to Mystaras past. *phew* Anyways, the Wilderlands Campaign has recently been reintroduced for D20 from judges guild. See www.judgesguild.com for more info. :) Since we are on the topic of worlds and looking at maps, I would like to take a moment to point out something I think is remarkable indeed. It is fun to talk to people from totally different places of the world and find that we all share the same hobbies and all have different good ideas that we can share. :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:26 AM.
