My character just got summoned to the Astral Plane and was visited by the Avatar of Azuth. Any way he gave me information on different things about our party. Then he told me that I can choose one spell that is of my lvl able to cast or lower and I can get that spell permanently in my mind without the need to memorize it. Then he also said he will give me one wish, and next week I have to give him the wish. I would like the opinions of people on this board of what I should wish for. I am a 12th lvl Mage or Mistra. Any more questions feel free to ask. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Varl Date : 10-25-04 12:11 AM I don't know what you should Wish for. What does the character want or desire to own or have occur? You should have already known this about your character before such a circumstance, or at the very least, had a rough idea of contingencies like these and how your character would respond. It sounds like you already get a pretty nice ability from Azuth as it is. The only suggestion I would give is to use the Wish on behalf of the group as a whole, or towards someone in much more need than your character. It'll make your character (and you) feel good. :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Righetti Date : 10-25-04 02:24 AM invisablity. definitly invisablity, or i guess magic missle if you prefer, but you should practically have those perminately memorized already. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : TheEnder Date : 10-25-04 08:24 PM Um, he can cast 6th level spells. Magic Missile or Invisibility aren't bad spells, but choosing a 2nd or 1st level is a huge waste. He's got enough spell slots already. Wishes are REALLY tricky. The 9th level spell Wish isn't a great spell to use arbitrarily, usually I use it to cast permenency or mimic a priest spell in a time of need. It's so easy to have your words twisted around, and I would probably forgo it in this case. Beware. However, if this is one of those Alladin-ish wishes where you can wish for almost anything within reason without much fear of repercussions-- as a wizard I would probably wish for my body to be as tough and resillient as Illmater's Avatar. Con 25 is pretty sweet for a mage, as you get the warrior HPs and all that. I don't know if the DM would let you make a wish asking for an increase in more than one stat, but if he would, go for it. I'm just assuming there are limits on this generosity. Other Suggestions: -ask to weild the spellfire -ask for a copy of azuth's spellbook -ask for a god's magic resistance Of course, this all really depends on what your character wants out of life: if he's a very selfless guy such a wish might not be in character. My suggestion was just about augmenting your power. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : MysteryOfTime Date : 10-25-04 08:40 PM Well, my mage's alignment is CN. And what do you mean by spellfire? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Chosen Of Bhaal Date : 10-28-04 05:25 AM spellfire is a unique ability in the the FR setting... described in the FRCS. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : MordainThade Date : 10-29-04 05:12 AM spellfire is a unique ability in the the FR setting... described in the FRCS. As we are in the OOP boards, I would rather suggest "Volo's Guide to All Things Magical" for your spellfire description. A major question would be, is Azuth your patron deity (or favored deity)? He may be testing your restraint with the wish... If you're willing to take the chance, my suggestions would be among the following: Spellfire (exceedingly powerful, if the DM allows it), additional spell capability (either memorized, or spells in book), higher Intelligence (Azuth can alter the Wish to bypass the 10-per-point-above-16 rule), or something generally to do with improving your spellcasting capability without directly affecting your level (such as pseudo-specialization in one of the basic 8 schools). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : TLomon Date : 10-31-04 01:26 AM Well, hard to give advice without knowing your character's personality. However, I'll give it a shot. Remember, you are CN. Ask for a never empty ink well, or even better, a never empty beer mug or wine glass, that stays perpeptually cool! Make it a fun wish. For the spell ability, I would recommend:Shadowwalk. These recommendations are based on what my character would have requested (she is a tad bit crazy). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Stonebeard Date : 11-04-04 08:46 PM Well, hard to give advice without knowing your character's personality. It breaks my dwarven heart to say it, so I humbly beg your pardon for crying while writing this, but wouldn't a never empty beer mug be one that was sealed so that you couldn't ever get the beer out of it? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : TLomon Date : 11-07-04 11:16 PM Well, now we are getting into the domain of how I grant wishes in my game. In my game, the spell wish is severely limited to what it can do. It is used mostly in magical item creation requiring a wish or duplication of other spells. However, wishes granted by another being... muhahaha. The way the wish is interpretted is entirely based on the power granting the wish. An evil power, evil interpretation... a good power, a good interpretation. Chaotic... well, you get my point. Wishes also flow the path of least resistance. If the player wishes for 1,000 platinum pieces, it is easier to teleport them from the king's coffers just in yonder castle then it would be to create them from nothing. Also, requests for "useless" items are less draining to make then a magical sword. If a mug is sealed, it becomes a stein. However, I see that you are the cautious type. I wish for a finely crafted, unbreakable, appropriately sized, fully functional beer stein, that fills itself with a single chilled ale, be it from exotic lands, or from a local brewery, upon every draining. It would make every quaff an adventure! Mmm... Guiness. Oh what the heck, it refilled with Coors Light! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:16 AM.
