I haven't heard much, even GenCon seemed a bit dry.

WotC had people rolling a giant D20 for prizes, that seemned like the biggest excitement re: anniversary  :confused: 

I went Sat. night, did I go on a bad night?

Yeah there was a supposed anniversary party at gen con but i didnt go i only got to go saturday adn i bealive the party was on friday or something but from waht i saw there wasnt a real big hype.  There was that really cool historical display in the lobby though which was really cool!!

Gasp.  WotC made little or no effort to promote a 30th anniversary event at GenCon?  Why I am shocked, shocked I tell you.

Umm ... actually WotC made a big deal about the 30th anniversary and in fact I got a free t-shirt for the 30th anniversary as well as a free poster.  I was at the party for it on Saturday at GenCon Indy last August.  Now they had to move it last minute because it was originally planned for outside and it rained or was planning to rain and they moved it inside.      

And as someone mentioned they had a huge display describing the history of the game.  (and it wasn't like there was one panel for the OoP versions and the rest 3rd edition - I want to say it was 20% current edition and 80% OoP editions; I don't mind being corrected if they have a better recollection)

As for the rolling of the giant d20 for prizes, they do that every year.  I was a GenCon Indy last year and they did the same thing.  I know I ran into diaglo last year, so he should be able to vouch for this.

yeah, i rolled a 15. which won me a free copy of CotSQ :rolleyes:    not rolleyes at the 15, but at the prize. i think i told them a bajillion times how

my hat of d02 knows no limits. :eek: 

i told the guy i wanted the die as my prize. i don't think he believed me. :mad:


edit: as for the party. i didn't go this year. but i did hear from others who went... i wanted one of the t-shorts (shorts b/c the things were so huge you would be swimming in them)
