Opposition Schools Conflict So a specialist is barred from spells of his or her opposing school(s) and that's that. But... are they barred from dual school spells that are half oppositional and half not? What if, for example, a Necromancer or, even more interesting, an Invoker wanted to use Enchant an Item which is both Enchantment and Invocation? Enchantment spells are barred for both of those specialists, but would that be enough to prevent them from learning/using spells like Enchant an Item? Your thoughts? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Nifftin Date : 01-17-05 07:10 PM Ooh, wow, that's a good one. The best thing I can think of is that you can still cast the spell if your an invoker, not a necromancer. Odd that it's invocation though. Although! you could refer to spells and powers player option in the index and it lists Enchant an Item as a universal spell. So it depends if you want to use the player option book or not. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Kheldren Date : 01-18-05 06:56 AM My memory is that the dual school spells are so that you can use the spell if you can use either school that it is in. This means you only can't use the spell if you are barred from both it's schools. The intention is to permit more people not block more from using the spell. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Keda Date : 01-18-05 11:04 AM So it looks like we're leaning towards letting them cast it and I agree because... I found a spell called Corpse Visage that is both Necromancy and Illusion and it is restricted to Necromancers only so it must be like you've said that as long as half the spell isn't barred then they can cast it. Well it's good to know because both the spellcasters (Invoker & Necromancer) in our campaign are getting up around item making level and wondered if they'd even be able to try it. Thanks for the feedback :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:19 AM.
