When a PC reaches name level, builds a stronghold, and attracts followers, what sort of adventures do you run for him? I have a PC that's about to do this and I'm looking for adventure ideas. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : weasel fierce Date : 03-13-05 05:22 AM I'd begin moving the game unto the political scene. The powers that be would start noticing the hero. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Hiryu Date : 03-13-05 11:49 PM I do not allow my players to build strongholds simply because the rules says they get them at such and such level. I, however, let them build keeps, towers, castles and strongholds at any level, provided they have the resources to do so. (and trust me, I don't foresee any low-level characters with 200,000+ gold pieces for land, construction, furnishing and mercenary investments) Currently I have a player who funded a small kindgdom with no more than 1,500 inhabitants, and his adventures now usually revolve around political or economical problems. A military campaign to help a neighboring country (presently his country is a member of the Lord's Alliance in the FR setting), commanding a small group to investigate, defeat or even make an alliegance with other demihuman groups in the area (so far he's lead his small army to defeat some orc bands and zentharim groups in the area), expansion campaigns (now a group of good drow of about 600 people is secretly a part of his kingdom and are being trained as spy forces), and sensitive tasks that involve adventuring but that can be only entrusted to nobles or high-profile personalities (reciently he was involved with the Books of Baal as a request from a noble family from Neverwinter in exchange for political and economical favors). Also, adventures where only the characters have enough power to complete (such as defeating the lich or great wyrm that is wreaking havock in the countryside) can work just as well. Of course, there can be also class-specific and race-specific adventures that would require the character's personal attention, such as a wizard gathering special components for the creation of a magical item, a paladin or priest carrying out an errand for his faith, a thief stealing a highly valuable artifact, an elf called to the defense of the elven realms, a dwarf summoned to his endangered homeland, etc. Just try to come up with intresting things that may appeal to the character(s) and where his companions can join in. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 03-20-05 09:03 PM It might have been in the Castle book, don't remember now (too many things blend together in my old age). Someplace I saw lots of ideas for this very thing, as well as a table you could roll on once a month or so for "off the cuff" adventures, so to speak. I'll see if I can dig it out sometime when I'm not wasting time here (or somewhere else). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:15 AM.
