Each of those campaigns has a little Planescape mixed in. I've played in Forgotten Realms, but never run a game in it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Attila Date : 04-19-05 06:10 PM Homebrew or Greyhawk -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : weasel fierce Date : 04-19-05 08:18 PM Mystara or my own campaign setting. Played plenty of Dragonlance, Greyhawk and some Dark Sun, and enjoyed those a lot too. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : TheDungeonDelver Date : 04-19-05 08:22 PM Greyhawk -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : ozbirthrightfan Date : 04-19-05 11:15 PM 11) BIRTHRIGHT - low magic, distinctive cultures, an often overlooked campaign setting (and not one for powergamers). I should point out that most of our BIRTHRIGHT campaigns did not involve any PCs controlling domain holdings - we simply used the setting as you would any other. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : caeruleus Date : 04-20-05 12:35 AM Homebrew, Greyhawk, and Al-Qadim (a separate campaign from the Realms). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : snarfalupagus Date : 04-20-05 08:24 AM Greyhawk, Mystara...edit (the known world)...I hadn't seen it called Mystara until I started back into the game...a couple months ago. and The Realms. I have played Darksun, too mad max from beyond the thunderdome for me. A couple of Dragonlance adventures were done back in the day, too "Chicken little the sky is falling" for me Ravenloft was good, with a good DM, but I didn't like campaigning in it. Al Quadim was touched on with us, but never took off. OA was played once or twice, but that didn't make my socks go up and down either. I refused to play spelljammer with the guys. My reply was "why don't we just play traveller, or Star Wars?" And 3x....ummm nevermind. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Thailfi Date : 04-20-05 09:41 AM Why does it have to be just one setting? Our 25 year old campaign includes: 1. Forgotten Realms 2. Planescape 3. Dark Sun 4. DragonLance 5. Spelljammer 6. Ravenloft 7. Gamma World 8. Greyhawk Each of the campaign settings is just a crystal sphere within the Spelljammer universe, so it is possible to get on a spelljamming ship and travel from the Forgotten Realms to DragonLance. Planescape ties it all together. We use it as the rules for the multiverse and there are gates between worlds from Sigil and elsewhere. Gamma World exists in a magic dead expanse of one crystal sphere. Ravenloft is just another plane of existence in our campaign that gained more prominance after we ran Die, Vecna, Die. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : havard Date : 04-20-05 09:48 AM Mystara (Known World, Hollow World, Red Steel) and Blackmoor. I really like some many of the other TSR settings too though. Planescape, Dark Sun and Spelljammer are some of the ones I find most intriguing, though I havent had much chance to play in those settings. I enjoy the Dragonlance novels (at least the W&H ones), and I always like to keep an eye out for that setting even though I'd probably never GM in it. For 3E/D20, I'm currently running a Freeport campaign ported to Mystara. I also own copies of Eberron and Iron Kingdoms, both awesome settings. Mystara was the name given to it, when it was attempted ported to AD&D2. In D&D times, I dont think it was ever called anything but The known world -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : havard Date : 04-21-05 05:17 AM Mystara was the name given to it, when it was attempted ported to AD&D2. Just check out the Champions of Mystara, boxed set, for OD&D. IIRC even the RC refers to the setting as Mystara. Unfortunately, because of its association with the not so good AD&D2 products for Mystara, the name has a bad reputation among alot of people. It is the only name that really covers the whole setting though, since The Known World, generally doesn't include the Savage Coast or the Hollow World. Now that's cool! As for me, I've been running my own homebrew world of Skell since 1984. Still lots of places to explore! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : weasel fierce Date : 04-21-05 03:27 PM Not true. Håvard My bad, though the RC is later than AD&D 2nd edition. Not sure if it predates the AD&D conversion or not, though.
