It's not finished yet but you can see/test it here: Known World Calendar (http://queens21.connect.org.uk/gdavi.ait27/calendar/Mystara.htm) Known World Calendar with Events (http://queens21.connect.org.uk/gdavi.ait27/calendar/Mystara3.htm) Regards, Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Kheldren Date : 04-21-05 09:45 AM Nice work :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Goldrak Date : 04-21-05 02:12 PM Great work!!! :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 04-21-05 04:25 PM Sweet! I started to do a little bit with this when the Eberron calendar first came out, but I never got around to finishing things. Glad someone else had the same idea! What else are you planning on doing with it, if I may ask? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Hugin Date : 04-21-05 06:17 PM So far, so cool, Gary! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : katana_one Date : 04-21-05 06:34 PM Nifty! Any plans to adjust the year by culture ? For example, adding 1000 to find the Alphatian Year (AY). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-22-05 05:03 AM Thanks for all the positive comments. :embarrass Nifty! Any plans to adjust the year by culture ? For example, adding 1000 to find the Alphatian Year (AY). Yes, hopefully the final version will include the right prefix/suffix for the appropriate calendar as well as the correct year for that calendar. ie 1000 AC = ? AY etc). What else are you planning on doing with it, if I may ask? Hopefully I will add such things as comets, etc. Maybe add a 'events' database that will show what's happening on a given day or month. I am also open to suggestions. It's easy enough to add more national calendars, for example. Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Spellweaver Date : 04-22-05 07:12 AM Nice work! I believe 1000 AC = 2000 AY (what a coincidence, I wonder what empire will emerge in 2000 AC :D ) The Karameikos and Glantri Gaz both have nice charts of comets and special calender events. You could e.g. also include some of the holidays posted at the Vaults for the various immortals...? :-) Jesper -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-22-05 07:21 AM You could e.g. also include some of the holidays posted at the Vaults for the various immortals...? Yes, I could tie it in with Marco's list of Immortals by country so only the appropriate holidays show up for a given calendar. I was also thinking of a Hollow World Calendar with animated display of the floating continents following their orbits - but that might be a bit more tricky in HTML. :( Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-22-05 08:48 AM Added 1000 years and AY suffix for Alphatian Calendar. Do any of the other calendars have a different prefix/suffix? Or a different start year for their calendar. IIRC the shadowelves 1300 (or so years ahead). Any others? Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-29-05 04:35 AM It's still not finished, but here's version 2 with an 'events' window (Just for AC 1014 at the moment). Calendar with Events (http://queens21.connect.org.uk/gdavi.ait27/calendar/Mystara3.htm) Does anyone have the events for PWA 1-3 & JA in an electronic form that I can cut and paste into the array's? It'll take ages to actually input by hand. ;) Comets, eclipses etc coming soon... Regards, Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : katana_one Date : 04-29-05 12:53 PM Added 1000 years and AY suffix for Alphatian Calendar. Do any of the other calendars have a different prefix/suffix? Or a different start year for their calendar. IIRC the shadowelves 1300 (or so years ahead). Any others? Gary The Rockhome calendar also uses a different "year 0" reference. Year 0 for the dwarves is the year that the Battle of Sardal Pass took place. I don't have my GAZ with me at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly which year it coincides with on the Thyatian calendar. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : Joe Mason Date : 04-29-05 03:58 PM Nice work! I believe 1000 AC = 2000 AY (what a coincidence, I wonder what empire will emerge in 2000 AC :D ) Not a coincidence - the Thyatian Empire was founded when Alphatian slaves took advantage of the confusion (read: massive wizard debauchery) of their 1000-year anniversary celebration to rise up and secede. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Graywolf-ELM Date : 04-29-05 04:08 PM I'm trying to set up a calendar for the Orcs of Thar. I'm using Dwarvish week names for now. The Sind month names looked pretty good, but I'll only use those temporarily, unless I don't come up with something better. Along these lines, Does anyone know the Solstice dates for The Known World? Or the name of the Moon? I don't have everything in front of me here. I'm also working on holidays celebrated by the Humanoids a little. GW -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : Spellweaver Date : 04-29-05 04:53 PM I'm also working on holidays celebrated by the Humanoids a little. Then you might want to check out this Humanoid Holiday article from the Vault: http://www.mystaranet.jamm.com/vaults/html/noidhol.html :-) Jesper -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : Graywolf-ELM Date : 04-29-05 05:02 PM Thanks, I read those, and want to modify some a little. I'm going with the idea that the humanoids are more in tune with the seasons too. My players asked me a question. So how long has it been since our characters started adventuring. I made the mistake of not keeping track from the beginning, and have to go back and look at elapsed time from all my notes. I'm getting it all in DMGenie now. GW -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : tjedge1 Date : 04-30-05 03:25 PM Wow, great calendar! This is going to come in handy with adding more flavor to my campaign this summer. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 18] Author : katana_one Date : 05-01-05 10:30 PM Does anyone know … the name of the Moon? GW That would be Matera. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 19] Author : MystaraGM Date : 05-02-05 02:54 PM That would be Matera. Matera is the visible moon. The other moon is Patera, from where the Rakasta originate. Can't remember right now what makes it not visible. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 20] Author : katana_one Date : 05-02-05 07:27 PM Matera is the visible moon. The other moon is Patera, from where the Rakasta originate. Can't remember right now what makes it not visible. The ore that makes up Patera's core has the unique ability to bend light in the visible spectrum - making it invisible from outside its sky shield. Of course, since it is invisible, it really doesn't matter much for purposes of Gazza'a interactive calendar. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 21] Author : Gazza555 Date : 05-10-05 07:57 AM Added events for AC 1015 and 1016. Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 22] Author : tjedge1 Date : 06-30-05 09:36 PM :bump: I have to keep this where i can find it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 23] Author : Thorf Date : 06-30-05 10:47 PM I notice that no one answered about the dates of the solstices and equinoxes yet. I'd also be interested to know. Perhaps this is listed in one of the Poor Wizard's Almanacs at some point...?? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 24] Author : Gazza555 Date : 07-01-05 03:55 AM I'll have to get back to this at some point. The data entry is just sooooo boring. :bored: I've also lost the ability to upload to the site, it's only accessible via LAN and you can't FTP to it! Regards, Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 25] Author : Gazza555 Date : 08-02-05 04:33 AM Added events for AC 1017. :D Regards, Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 26] Author : tjedge1 Date : 08-06-05 12:47 PM Good job. This calander is going to be very helpful when my players start really getting into world events. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 27] Author : katana_one Date : 08-24-05 09:39 PM The Rockhome calendar also uses a different "year 0" reference. Year 0 for the dwarves is the year that the Battle of Sardal Pass took place. I don't have my GAZ with me at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly which year it coincides with on the Thyatian calendar. I finally remembered to get out my Rockhome GAZ and look this up! From page 45 of GAZ 6: BC 492: The Rockhome borders are finally secured against the nonhumans in the Battle of Sardal Pass. This is Year 0 in the dwarven calendar. I'm also looking at the calendar info from PWA3 (page 117-118). In that guide it mentions that AC 1012 is actually the year 312 on Minrothad's calendar, and that by the Shadowelf calendar, AC 1012 is actually 2117. Hope that helps! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 28] Author : Gazza555 Date : 08-25-05 05:04 AM Hope that helps! It certainly does, thanks. :D On a related note, I seem to remember that not every year starts on Nuwmont 1 (or that nations equivalent) so at some point I need to address that. Those orcish names are pretty cool! They sound a little similar to Tolkien's Black Speech, which is great as far as I'm concerned. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 33] Author : Graywolf-ELM Date : 09-19-05 11:03 AM I don't claim ownership of the names. It may very well have come from there. Someone posted them on our website, after I sent out a request for good Ideas.
