Suggestions? I have most of the old mods (about 12" worth onthe bookshelf) Finishing B4 adventure, have to do the final paperwork......have done the b-series 1-4 so far.........what next B5? X? C? etc.......thought I'd turn my next campaign over to you guys! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : weasel fierce Date : 05-27-05 01:14 PM What level is the party ? There's always the fantastic Temple of Elemental evil series (4 total I believe?) Are you playing AD&D 1st edition, or oD&D ? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Elendur Date : 05-27-05 01:27 PM If your party is in the 4-7 level range, you have a vast amount of great adventures to choose from. You have the Slavers A1-4, The Temple of Elemental Evil T1-4, and X1: the Isle of dread. You could even run the original Ravenloft module. I envy you in a way. My party is getting up in level(they'll have to be to finish off GDQ), and it's going to be harder to keep using classic modules without modification. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 05-27-05 01:58 PM 1st Ed. core books/'81 basic/expert sets, etc..........party is 5th, 5th and 2nd levels......Slavers could be cool.......B4 was really cool, want something interesting...... not sure if I have T1-4 need to check......thanks fellas -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 05-27-05 02:11 PM Wow I don't have the T series, just pristine mono Hommlet and rereleased Hommlet....what was T2 T3 and T4??? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : rogueattorney Date : 05-27-05 02:28 PM Wow I don't have the T series, just pristine mono Hommlet and rereleased Hommlet....what was T2 T3 and T4??? T2, T3, and T4 were never released individually. They were all released together along with a slightly revised Village of Hommlet in the T1-4 Temple of Elemental Evil super-module. R.A. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : wordserpent Date : 05-27-05 04:52 PM Was Module B4 The Lost City? if so the party must be pretty high in levels if they were able to take on Zargon (or whatever it's name was). Might I suggest X2 Castle Amber or maybe X3 Curse of Xanathon. These in my opinion were two of the best adventure modules ever made. X2 is Lovecraftain in it's methods (well Klarkash-Tonian technically) and is scary as hell. It also involves planar travel (to Averoigne) and some serious problem-solving as well as lots and lots of juicy combat. But beware! The modules cover may say Levels 3-7 but the DM notes recommend a HUGE party (6-10 characters or something like that). Expect a lot of deaths if low levels or low party members are to be used. X3 begins as a city adventure but it contains outdoors encounters and a dungeon or two. There is also a great deal of political intrigue involved so your players had better be able to roleplay. Of course you might very well know all of this crap so I may have wasted my words here... Good gaming to you. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 05-27-05 05:42 PM my party got it's ass kicked in the B4 mod, never took on Zargon.....got to the Lost city, recouped, and left the temple.....licking it's wounds.....basically tons of undead decimated my guys.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : TheDungeonDelver Date : 05-27-05 06:16 PM A1 through A3 is a great way to go, although you might want to spread it out a bit (maybe run an intercine module 'twixt A2 and A3 or A1 and A2) to ensure that the party is of high enough level to not get their heads handed to them in A3! Of course if you insist on running the (IMO vastly inferior to the rest of the series) A4, then letting 'em get chopped up in A3 is no problem. The "U" series is never a bad mid/low level module. You might also run them through Len Lakofka's awesome L1 and L2 (L3 is a HIGH LEVEL module, though - even if you can find it - so I'd stay clear of that one for quite a while). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Elendur Date : 05-27-05 09:43 PM A4 was the highlight of the series for me, but I can see why people don't like it. X2 and 3 are both excellent, but they are both really tough. And with only three characters any 1e module is going to be hard. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : TheDungeonDelver Date : 05-28-05 01:35 AM A4 is "Okay" by itself, but I find myself dissatisfied with it as a conclusion to the series. Look, if the party is DEAD then they're DEAD. I don't think the slavers would waste valuable raise dead spells on the party just to put them in a jailbreak scenario! (IMO) As a stand-alone module if you can find some other way to put the party inside, though, it's a fine piece of work. And incidentally, according to Frank Mentzer, A4 was written first, and then the writers of the other modules (Allen Hammack for A3, Harold Johnson and Tom Moldvay for A2 and Dave Cook for A1) worked backwards from the premise of the original "In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords" tourney mod. EDIT: Regarding three PCs...hirelings. Hirelings and henchmen. Unless the PCs are repugnant, let them do a few random encounters or perhaps loot a small tomb type adventure here or there to get the lucre to hire some doughty footmen and sellswords! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:16 AM.
