Like TSC, AoW will be a long series of adventures all linked to one another to take PC from low level to high level AFAI understand. So, can anyone tell me if TSC is worth tracking down or buying in the book-volume that is released in July? And, more importantly, can it be converted to Mystara? And what is the basic plotline of TSC and AoW? :-) Jesper -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : havard Date : 06-03-05 07:31 AM I just got a mail from Paizo advertising that next issue of Dungeon will hold the sequel to last year's adventure path,The Shackled City, which is called Age of Worms. But nothing made it incompatible with Mystara either. Of course, it gets tiring wading through huge stat blocks and I might have missed something as my eyes skimmed the text. A town resides in a volcano. There is a plot by some baddies with some planar forces to make the volcano erupt. There are plenty of sidetreks and recurring villains. One adventure did stand out as having some Mystaran compatible ideas, which I may have to look up. It involved a trip to the outer planes, and a PC could end up being the "chosen owner" of the plane, similar in concept to the old Immortals box set. I would set this one outside the Known World, perhaps Norworld or maybe some region in the Savage Coast, just because the whole volcano town thing is a bit out there. Overall, the adventure was designed to be generic, so it neither exceptionally fits nor clashes with Mystara. Except the planar adventure, I will get back to you on that. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Agathokles Date : 06-07-05 03:00 AM I would set this one outside the Known World, perhaps Norworld or maybe some region in the Savage Coast, just because the whole volcano town thing is a bit out there. Actually, Filtot in Honor Island (Ierendi) is within a volcano. It may still not fit, since the population would be pretty able to handle any threat (all wizards and priests of level 10+...). Also the city of Ierendi is quite near a volcano and several other areas in Ierendi are near volcanoes. The Savage Coast and Norwold would fit less, since there are few volcanoes near populated regions: the Savage Coast has a single volcano, the Serra Sanguinea, but it's in the Terra Vermelha, a desert region; there are a few volcanoes in the eastern gulf of Hule (Black Mountains region), but the only city that could possibly be recast as being inside a volcano is Bielagul (so you'd have to replace all humans with goatmen :) ). Norwold has more volcanoes, but few cities (unless you're playing in the far future). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : NPC Dave Date : 06-07-05 03:15 PM Actually, Filtot in Honor Island (Ierendi) is within a volcano. Yeah the problem is that the town in the volcano struck me as a frontier town, without too many powerful characters(other than the villains) and the bad guys had insinuated themselves into the political structure. Filtot could work, but there are plenty of wizards and clerics running around that could handle everything without the benefit of PCs. The big threat to the town is the volcano erupting, but when the town leaders have alliances with powerful rulers on the elemental plane of fire.... Also the ultimate motivations of the villains in the adventure would have to be changed. And the PCs would have to be Honor Island natives. Maybe that is your best bet though. Otherwise, I would add a town on the map rather than recast a town as inside a volcano. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : NPC Dave Date : 06-18-05 01:39 PM The idea of Filtot got me thinking, so I did some reading on the Honor Island mages. The town itself is at the base of the mountain, while the Citadel(a university-style complex) is within it. Some things would have to be changed, but the Adventure path could fit, and the advantage is that it would be a low to high level campaign, which would work for Honor Island PCs. As written, Honor Island is just a place for PCs to try and sneak into to observe, but this would give it as a place to play. I will try and build some conversion notes. As for Age of Worms, only the first adventure is out, so it is too soon to say about Mystara. But the first adventure ties in nicely to the box set The Rod of Seven Parts. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Graywolf-ELM Date : 06-22-05 03:02 PM From the first readings of the Worms adventure path, I was considering setting the town in the Black Eagle Barony, and working from there. So far there has only been one adventure for AoW. I'm not in a position to run them just yet so I thought I would watch how they turn out. I'm thinking that it could be run in Norwold. Maybe somewhere near Alpha. The AoW is set in a town called Diamond Lake which is supposed to be near the "Free City." Alpha would probably do for that. --Ray. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Gazza555 Date : 08-01-05 06:04 AM I've briefly read the second installment of AoW. It's about the Ebon Triad a cult trying to merge the essences of three evil gods to form an 'overgod'. I would image a way to make this work in Mystara, is to take an evil immortal such as Thanatos and have this as a method for him to become an Old One. He would of course have to trick two other immortals into becoming one with him. Maybe he tricked Alphax and Thanatos to help him become an Old One. --Ray. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Gazza555 Date : 08-01-05 07:35 AM Maybe Loki (or his other name, Bozdogan) would be a better choice. IIRC the GH gods are Hextor, Erythnul, and Vecna. IIRC the GH gods are Hextor, Erythnul, and Vecna. Regards, Gary The Greyhawk gods in question are pretty much randomly chosen, though, and don't have anything at all to do with one another except that they're all evil and all mentioned in the Player's Handbook. Rather than finding parallels for those gods, it'd be better to find three Entropic Immortals who fit together in some way, forming a greater whole. I believe it turns out that the cult is a sham, anyway, so it's not that important. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:30 AM.
