Over from Dragonsfoot: :) Hope you find it worth reading and want to supply me with some good idea! Yours, Rafael Hello, This morning, virtually, out of the nowhere, it made *bling* in my head and I started to write down the outline for a new campaign set in *The North* aka Blackmoor. (The Mystara one, not the Greyhawk one). Since I'll have the pleasure to DM this game with my youthgroup, I am happy to set up a really long campaign, with an epic plot. In my euphorical state of mind, I think it might be intersting what you others think of the main plot and the way I want to realize it. (It might seem very long at first sight, but we usually play one time a week for several hours during the evening... After all, the kiddos want to play, but to go out as well. :bday: ) So, here it goes: The Egg of Coot, temible faceless Blackmoor overfiend, has resurrected some heroes of old days as its thralls. Those heroes, a druid, a salesman, a sorceress and a warrior challenged it years ago and are the grandfathers of some of Blackmoor's rulers. The Baron of Glendower sends the party to investigate rumours about undeads roaming in the great western swamps. (I want to use the old Ravenloft module *Night of the Walking Dead for it. - The Zombielord at the end is the ghost of the salesman heroe, in my version.) Returning successfully from the cursed village, the party chokes with a giant boar, the ghost of the Druid, who's hunting humans and destroying their mountain homes. If the party survives, things get a bit more clear in Glendower (no idea how the party's supposed to find out the uber-plot) and the Baron sends them to search the unfinished tomb of the sorceress. (Glendower Dungeon, as I found it on the web.) Should the party survive even this long, the PCs are ordered to travel to the Egg's realm and sneak into a fortress of the Egg's thralls and find out about the entire plan. From there, as the big showdown, the party will have to travel to the tomb of the last heroe, the warrior, and destroy the army of undead he is preparing there to storm the human regions in the name of the Egg. (I think about using the dungeons *The Tomb* and *The Watchtower* as described in the new CSIO from JG for this.) What do you think about it? I dearly welcome any criticism and any creative input. This campaign is the boys' reward for playing a splendid high-level Taladas campaign, and I so introduce them into *my* gaming world. *This is somewhat like knighting them, if you understand what I mean...* :) So, this campaign shall better be good! Thank you in advance for any ideas you drop by! Yours, Rafael -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Hugin Date : 09-21-05 10:48 AM I've never played in Blackmoor before (and hopefully someday that will change) but it seems you have a good campaign set out before you. As for suggestions, I don't really have any, but I think with a good base plan like you have you will find all kinds of interesting additions as you guys play and the campaign develops its own personality. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Ivid Date : 09-21-05 11:02 AM I've never played in Blackmoor before (and hopefully someday that will change) but it seems you have a good campaign set out before you. The newly released books, while not perfect, are very interesting. Check Havards site for some more info. I don't really play that setting in connection with th Mystara timeline, but from what I've heard, it fits perfectly. Seems that Mystara is having a comeback through the backdoor... :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Hugin Date : 09-21-05 12:15 PM For BM, I absolutely recommend you to glimpse at the setting, if you're a bit into d20. I have a few of the old DA modules that take place in Blackmoor, and naturally I've seen Havard's website, but I haven't had the chance to check out the new d20 Blackmoor books yet. I've heard they are quite good. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Ivid Date : 09-21-05 03:17 PM Compared to the old modules, the new DABM is definitely better, if you ask me. It's a pretty default heroic fantasy setting with a strongly medieval background, but I was searching for something fresh in that genre for a while, and so it came to serve me marvellously. And since the line seems to go very well, FFC fans as well as Mystarans like you can look for a lot of new, fresh and high-quality stuff! :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Culture20 Date : 09-22-05 12:18 AM Hopefully there will be a Blackmoor supplement in the future: "The Beagle has Landed" -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Ivid Date : 09-22-05 03:38 AM :D A revamp of the City of Gods? - Maybe... But from what understand up to date, the big metaplot explores new terrain: I think it will be very plausible that we see the lich lord again who caused Philo so many problems... The only in-print adventures up to date deal with an undead conspiracy, and a cabal of wizards somehow involved... Sounds really good, my gaming group is hungerung for the supposed sequels... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Gazza555 Date : 09-22-05 04:39 AM There's an adventure set in the Blackmoor region (of Greyhawk - no doubt) in Dungeon 126. It's called the Clockwork Fortress. It's actually a sequel to an adventure in Dungeon 115. IIRC it doesn't go into any detail about Blackmoor though - it's just on the map :( Regards, Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Ivid Date : 09-22-05 06:41 AM There's an adventure set in the Blackmoor region (of Greyhawk - no doubt) in Dungeon 126. But first find out if it's compatible... ;) Thank you for the hint! What do you think of the adventure? - Worth spending money for? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Gazza555 Date : 09-22-05 08:33 AM What do you think of the adventure? - Worth spending money for? I think so.
