With monsters straight from the hand books (2nd ed.) I can give the same amout of expierence what they say in the books (unless some strange circumstance occurs). The problem arises when I take a monster and power it up (since the characters are mid level - who wants 3hd orcs?). To do that I just give them a few 'character levels.' Meaning, I take an orc and give it 10hd, exeptional strength, armors, and weapons. This is much more powerful than what the book explains. I kept going with the DM Screen (the one with the Lich and the book) where it says something about Experience by Hit Dice, but I'm starting to think that I may be wrong. That and my characters killing human npcs (wizard/thief or anything really), how would I go about giving experience for those kills? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : weasel fierce Date : 10-09-05 03:09 AM The DMG has a chart for how XP is calculated. Basically, you take the basic hit dice / level, modify this depending on abilities (there's a chart), and the result is the "effective hit dice" of the creature, which determines the XP total awarded. If you dont feel like math, just compare your critter to an existing monster, and base the XP award off of that :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
