not that I'm really interested about, it's just for curiosity... why is it the only old setting missing from the boards?

There are two answers one can give to that question.

1. It's part of the Forgotten Realms. I don't like this answer, however, as one can play Al-Qadim and completely ignore Faerun.

2. It's not the only setting missing. Among others are Kara-Tur (which can also be answered like the first answer), Maztica (same thing again), Lankhmar, Blackmoor, plus a few other minor ones.

OK... even if...

1. it's more part of Toril than part of Forgotten Realms

2. Kara-Tur has always been labeled "Forgotten Realms" in the few published products (or there have been "Oriental Adventures" products not explicitly put in Kara-Tur but more setting-neutral); Maztica situation is similar to Kara-Tur; Blackmoor has never really been an indipendent setting of it's own, gravitating between Greyhawk and Mystara; Lankhmar... well... yeah, it's missing... but never felt it too much d&d (much like Arnold "Mr Governor" Schwarznegger - Conan modules :D )

I've often wondered why Al-Qadim's been neglected.  I suspect that publishing anything arabian is considered a bit too...political at the moment.

And it would send security spyware off the clock.  The feds will be working overtime if D&Ders start emailing each other with "Al-Qadim is the bomb!".
