Hey I want to incorporate some low tech to my Gamma World games (PC's are from a feudal middle-ages tch level) but I was thinking tha a crashed spaceship would be great for them to explore t start out with. Does Tales of the Comet incorporate in any way the 1e. AD&D Expedition to the Barrier Peaks module or are they totally different, and which would be best to do what I want to do, I'm thinking that Barrier Peaks would be better, but I like what Tales of the Comet has going for it too. YOur input is appreciated. thanx. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Mortepierre Date : 10-25-05 04:46 AM I don't exactly understand why you would need a crashed spaceship to introduce low tech to your Gamma World given there is already tech of all levels waiting to be found all over the place  Anyway, the answer is: no. They aren't the same. EttBP is 1E while TotC is 2E. The first takes place in a section (not a whole ship) of a spaceship that crashed to the Barrier Peaks and remained buried there for a long time before an eathquake disturbed the inactive bots long enough for them to do some crazy stuff (like releasing into the local wilderness "species" they had collected on alien worlds). Enter the adventurers who are tasked with investigating what's happening. Basically, they explore the ship, collect various high tech. items which they (try to) use to stay alive and - if all goes well - do enough damage to prevent the unfortunate incident from happening again. The second is about a war of extermination between an alien advanced humanoid species and a super-computer served by a zillion bots (kind of like Terminator). A ship of the aliens crashes near a small village in the PC's homeworld. Unfortunately, it also contained evil bots. The aliens try to survive and contact their allies while the bots are on a "explore, assimilate, & destroy" mission. If the PC manage to take care of the bots, the aliens take them along to the stars where they'll have a chance to participate in a galactic war and - if the DM feels kind - even take a shot at the megalomaniac computer. EttNP and (the first part of) TotC could equally well be adapted to any low tech setting but the goals of the adventure would be different. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : StinkinSith Date : 10-26-05 01:01 AM Because I feel it could be a really cool segway. Instead of just "hey the scouts have noticed some metal men running around in the valley, go check it out" it could be a way to make some early improvments and introduce PLII or early Tech level III characters into the environment. All knowledge of the ancients is lost and as far ast ehy know there are no secret societies. In a middle-ages style game the PC's would be hard pressed to have a reason to find tech, but if they were sent to investigate a comet which has landed not far away then it could be a neat intro to the weapons and tech of the rest of the world, besides with a good module, I have to do less work. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
