If you made certain modifications to his abilities, couldn't you play one? Technically, they existed in the 2E version, but not as playable characters. We have an advanced player playing with us who's creating a Psionic or Bladesinger (can't remember which) and intending to play him. Our DM is going to allow him to do this because he's the one who knows more about it than she does (He's subbed for her a couple times when she was feeling down.) I understand about letting him play a character as complicated as a Psionic or Bladesinger, but another one of our players is throwing a fit because he wants to play a ninja. Like I asked above, if certain modifications are made, couldn't he? Please get back to me on this one and thanks for listening to me rant. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : rigon Date : 11-07-05 11:21 PM Actually, all you need to do is get the CHBs. The Nija is covered in its own HB, the Psionicist is covered in the CPsHB, and the Bladesinger is covered in the CEHB. It won't 'crash' when you try to 'load' an incorrect 'version' of a character. For now anyway, Microsoft doesn't make D&D. The DM should be able to accommodate such characters, unless it goes against the style of his campaign. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Quirriff Date : 11-08-05 10:16 PM A Psychic Warrior, is a fighter with psionic talant. A Psychic Rogue, is a thief with psionic talant. Psionic talant is hard to get, rolling 00 on a percentile score, or having more than one mental for with 16 or over, and rolling a pretty hard number on a d%. So they those classes are backward compatable. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : RobertFisher Date : 11-15-05 06:43 PM I'd had some bad experiences with those kind of things in the past, so I used to stand a pretty firm line against it. These days, I think my DMing style has changed & that I'd handle such things better. So, I be willing to consider letting a player use any class from OD&D, classic D&D, OAD&D, or C&C when DMing classic D&D. I'd make sure that they understood up front, though, that I reserve the right to change the rules on-the-fly. I might consider something from 2e or 3e as well, but I'd find it harder. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Prof. Pacali Date : 11-16-05 07:36 PM As far as Im concerned, a ninja is a thief, a bladesinger is a fighter and a psionicist doesnt exist ;) That being said, all of these have their own rules in AD&D (heck, the ninja and psionics were in AD&D1st edition) Actually the bladesinger would be an Elven Fighter/Magic-User in 1E. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Darth_Azalin Date : 11-17-05 07:53 AM and psionics did existed in 1.0 confusing but still there..
