I'm fully engrossed in 1st Ed AD&D X2 Castle Amber, solo play....a quirky adventure that totally threw my character's world upside down....I went in w. a level 5 fighter, level 5 cleric and a level 2 fighter.....the latter 2 got killed in the Indoor Forest by the killer trees....6 of them w/ 5 attacks each...since I didn't adjust the number of killer trees to meet the number of characters they got slaughtered (this mod is for 6-10 players levels 3-6)......my 5th level fighter got out of the fight w/ 10 HPs...a total loss, not even the 2 characters' magic items could be saved as they got eaten alive. I'm a tough DM, but didn't want them dead...they were great characters. So I sadly forged on alone and rested in the forest only to come upon a unicorn and a maiden which is actually a gold dragon in human form...they are stuck in the castle and cannot get past the gray fog that enshrouds it and prevents escape. W/ a roll of the dice they joined me in finding a way out.....mind you a gold dragon is very handy to have in the large rooms of the castle...a great tactic to clear rooms is having my 5th level fighter enter one, if he is outnumbered or against something nasty/chaotic......my fighter retreats (but not after being attacked from behind) to the larger room where my friend the gold dragon is waiting w/ a nice breathe of chlorine or fire....this worked nicely until we got to the dungeon where my fighter walked across a series of tiles and is now turned into a werewolf!!!! AAaahhhhh!!!! What do I do? The dragon has no Remove Curse spell....so he put a Charm Spell on the werewolf/fighter to control him....we are now searching for a Remove Curse scroll....any suggestions??? This has been a very strange yet entertaining adventure but one I want to continue as a human! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Higmorton Date : 12-19-05 04:57 PM There is alway a 5 to 10% chance for divine intervention. But as well understanding the mistake in the first place and if players and Dm can agree upon it. Do a cosmic rewind. Start the whole adventure over, with the proper number of characters so all can enjoy. The dragon and unicorn could still be met and become allies. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 12-30-05 08:44 PM ok got out of the predicament...the maiden/gold dragon put a charm spell on the brain collector, a monster that removes the brains of men and thereby gets the power of an additional spell......my werewolf/fighter went to a room which had 3 evil priests......fighter fled to the room of the charmed brain collector, were everyone battled the 3 priests, the brain collector removed the brains, and under the charm spell was told to learn a remove curse spell....we waited a whole day, werewolf curse was removed from 5th level fighter and rolled for wandering monsters 12 times! Now have to battle them.....fun game, problem solving and craftiness! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Varl Date : 12-30-05 08:58 PM The dragon has no Remove Curse spell....so he put a Charm Spell on the werewolf/fighter to control him....we are now searching for a Remove Curse scroll....any suggestions??? You'll need to petition your faith for a 7th level scroll of the Remove Lycanthropy spell to remove it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : sunman Date : 12-30-05 09:09 PM Funny, I was going to say the same thing. Had a thief 5th level got lyconthrope. Took divine intervention. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 12-30-05 09:10 PM in this castle/module it states that all ill effects of the magic letter square can be removed w/ a remove curse spell.....my chraracter walked across some magic lettering so this may be an exception...... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 12-30-05 09:13 PM how do you work in divine intervention? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Higmorton Date : 01-29-06 09:52 AM Divine Intervention can be handled in many ways. Dream Sequence - where the character dreams that the situation occurs, and thus is cured of the situation Loyality - the character prayed to his god loyally, and tithed on a regular basis. So the diety steps in and cures him/her to save of you their devoted followers. Hidden Catcomb - the character stumbles upon a hidden cave where the cure lies within gaurded by something powerful though. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : WizzyBlackmore Date : 01-29-06 11:55 AM how do I go about getting a god for my character? I can't in the middle of an adventure just start randomly praying.....should I pick one from Deities and Demigods? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Edgewaters Date : 01-30-06 08:49 AM I'm fully engrossed in 1st Ed AD&D X2 Castle Amber, It's not 1st Ed Ad&D. It's B/X Moldvay & Cook D&D. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:18 AM.
