Or how about a Gnome class? Thanks in advance. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-14-06 09:26 AM Does anybody have any stats available for example a Rangers/Forrester class? Or how about a Gnome class? You mean, alternative to the Forester and Gnome provided in DotE and Top Ballista, respectively? Looking at the canon material, we have: 1) the Forester from DotE -- this is basically a human who progresses as an elf. 2) the Druidic Knight from Dragon Magazine -- this is the Neutral equivalent of the Paladin/Avenger; makes a fine Ranger character as well 3) the fighters from Atruaghin clans have several restrictions that make them more or less like Rangers -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Iramus Date : 01-16-06 07:36 PM Do you mean the Dawn of the Emperors boxed set? If so I haven't got that one. :weep: Are the stats online anywhere? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : eldersphinx Date : 01-16-06 08:52 PM Do you mean the Dawn of the Emperors boxed set? If so I haven't got that one. :weep: Are the stats online anywhere? Not... exactly. All you really do is grab the rules for being an Elf, write up background and such as a Human, and you're good to go, though. Rakes are fairly similar - take the Thief rules, drop the Pick Pockets skill, and you're set. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-17-06 02:20 AM All you really do is grab the rules for being an Elf, Well, of course the Forester doesn't get the special abilities of elves (infravision and immunities). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : Rhialto Date : 01-17-06 02:38 AM Surveying my rulebooks, I find... GAZ2 - human dervishes (desert druids) GAZ3 - various advanced wizardry groups GAZ6 - dwarf clerics (of Kagyar) GAZ8 - hin masters (druid-mages) GAZ9 - elf/human merchant prince (sea wizard) GAZ10 - humanoids as PCs, and shaman/wicca spellcasters GAZ12 - shaman (modified cleric) DotE - human foresters (basically, fighter-mages) Some of these could be made as initial starting classes. I think that applies to the following: * Forester (open to elves and humans trained by elves) * Cleric (gaz. specifically notes as open to dwarves) * Ethengar shaman (modified cleric that Ethengars must take instead of regular cleric class) The following would be best presented as prestige classes: * All the funky advanced wizards from GAZ3 * Hin Master (open to hin only) * Merchant prince (open to elves and humans in Minrothad) I'm sure I've missed a few. I'm leaving the mystic out of this post. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-17-06 12:02 PM GAZ2 - human dervishes (desert druids) GAZ3 - various advanced wizardry groups GAZ6 - dwarf clerics (of Kagyar) GAZ8 - hin masters (druid-mages) GAZ9 - elf/human merchant prince (sea wizard) GAZ10 - humanoids as PCs, and shaman/wicca spellcasters GAZ12 - shaman (modified cleric) DotE - human foresters (basically, fighter-mages) Also: GAZ5 - Elf Wizard, Elf Treekeeper GAZ7 - Wise Woman (NPC magic users), specialized priests GAZ10 - Goblinoids (Kobolds, Goblins, Orcs, Bugbears, Ogres and Trolls) GAZ11 - Darokin Merchant (limited wizard-like dual-classing) GAZ12 - Horse Warrior, Hakomon (modified warrior and wizard) GAZ13 - Shadow Elf, Shadow Elf Shaman GAZ14 - modified classes for the Atruaghin, Shamans PC1 - Centaur, Hsiao, Dryad, Pixie, Brownie, Sprite, Sidhe, Wood Imp, Treant PC2 - Harpy, Gnome (Sky, Earth), Nagpa, Tabi, Pegataur, Gremlin PC3 - Triton, Merman, Kna, Shark-kin, Aquatic Elf, Sea Giant, Kopru PC4 - Lycanthropes (several phenotypes) Champions of Mystara - Rakasta (as any human class), Graakhalian Elf Shaman, Graakhalian Gnoll "Forester" Dragon Magazine: Elf Paladin, Elf Cleric, Bard, Druidic Knight, Lupin, Half Elf (as any human class) Hollow World - Elf Fighter, Beastman, Krugel Orc (and probably others) HWR3 - specialist priests, griffon rider I'm pretty sure there are some other I'm missing. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Verro Diabolico Date : 01-17-06 03:32 PM Hollow World - Elf Fighter, Beastman, Krugel Orc (and probably others) IIRC also Hutaaka, Kubitts, Lizardmen and Brutemen. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-17-06 04:20 PM IIRC also Hutaaka, Kubitts, Lizardmen and Brutemen. Oh, yes, they're in HW too. BTW, I did also forget the Hobgoblin from GAZ10, the Sphynx and Faenare from PC2, the Pooka, Wooddrake, Redcap, Leprechaun and Satyr from PC1, and the N'djatwa from Dragon Magazine. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Rhialto Date : 01-17-06 04:43 PM Well, I wasn't counting races in Mystara, only source material where new classes were introduced. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-18-06 02:51 AM Well, I wasn't counting races in Mystara, only source material where new classes were introduced. The OP asked for new OD&D classes: Or how about a Gnome class? So I suppose it's ok if we list a few of the race-classes as well. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Rhialto Date : 01-18-06 04:13 AM I'll admit I don't have my copy of Top Ballista to hand, but istr that the gnome class there had various engineering skills as an intrinsic part of the character. I kind of figured that made it more like a character of race:gnome and class:engineer (for want of a better word; "tinker" has been ruined for this purpose). Almost all the other non-human classes that have been presented are really fighters with various racial modifications added on; once you remove their race-specific benefits, their class becomes apparent. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : Agathokles Date : 01-18-06 08:19 AM I'll admit I don't have my copy of Top Ballista to hand, but istr that the gnome class there had various engineering skills as an intrinsic part of the character. Almost all the other non-human classes that have been presented are really fighters with various racial modifications added on; once you remove their race-specific benefits, their class becomes apparent. Gnomes do have some special "powers", but their're still basically fighters as well. Anyway, I think you're mostly looking at the humanoids, who indeed are fighters (what else could they be?). Other race-classes of OD&D are similar to other human/demihuman classes (IIRC, Hsiao are basically clerics, Wooddrakes are thief-like, brownies are more or less like halflings, and sidhe are elf-like), of course, with a few exceptions -- the Nagpa and the Pooka are heavily based on special powers. However, I intended the original post as a request for more OD&D classes, so including both races and class in the same package (though even in OD&D there are a few instances of races that are not classes at the same time -- human, half-elf and rakasta, mostly). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Chris.Nix Date : 01-20-06 03:55 PM How far back do you want to go? If before the ODnD/1e split how about these Ranger – The Strategic Review 2 Illusionist – The Strategic Review 4 Alchemist – Dragon 2 Healers – Dragon 3 Scribes – Dragon 3 Samurai – Dragon 3 Berserker – Dragon 3 Idiot – Dragon 3 Jester – Dragon 3 Ninja – Dragon 16 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:29 AM.
