Hello all. Having trouble finding a 2nd Edition AD&D rule on damage due to exposure to bad weather. The party I'm currently running started out in lowland deserts and traveled into the mountains. They've just set out from a highland town and crossed onto a glacier, intending to cross over the mountains. But they made absolutely no preparations to deal with the difference in climate. Sure, they've got clothes, and cloaks ... but I have to assume they're wearing garb suitable for the climate where they started, not for crossing the exposed icy surface of a glacier. I've pointed out several times that they're cold, bloody freezing, and that it's miserable ... but they just hunker down and continue on. So I'm thinking there must be some physical deterrant to drive home the point that they're not prepared for this extreme change in environment. But I can't find any references in the AD&D 2nd Edition rules that specifies how much damage they should suffer due to cold. Any and all help is appreciated! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : ozbirthrightfan Date : 02-08-06 01:11 AM I don't know of any official rule. Maybe ask on the 2e boards at Dragonsfoot.org: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=2 Perhaps in the FR supplement dealing with the Great Glacier? Just make up a rule such as 1 or 2 hp damage per hour (or few hours) if the weather is extremely cold and they are under dressed. Wind an precipitiation make it worse, of course. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Evergreen_Aldaron Date : 02-09-06 09:08 AM I know it is not a 2nd edition sourcebook, but the Wilderness Survival Guide and Mountaineers Survival Guide from the first edition have a great set up fro exposure effects. There is also some pretty good reading on the topic in the 3rd edition Silver Marches accessory that can be converted easily enough. Hope that helps! :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Mormegeil Date : 02-09-06 03:36 PM In Temple of Elemental Evil, the nodes deal 1-4 dmg per turn! Something to consider as well.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:18 AM.
