I know of WotI and the Almanacs, is there anything else? Champions of Mystara? Is everything else set generically at either pre-WotI (at ~AC1000) or post-WotI (at ~AC1014)? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Thorf Date : 02-20-06 10:46 PM As far as I know, it's just Wrath of the Immortals and the Almanacs, along with the Princess Ark articles (which are the only part of Champions of Mystara that advances anything). Though actually, the Princess Ark did far more to introduce areas (and their plots) than to advance anything. The rest include a lot of details on what you refer to as metaplots, if I understand correctly, but are involved only with setting up those plots, leaving the actual progression up to individual DMs and campaigns. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Agathokles Date : 02-21-06 05:21 AM As far as I know, it's just Wrath of the Immortals and the Almanacs, along with the Princess Ark articles (which are the only part of Champions of Mystara that advances anything). It advances the plot by having the Alphatians discover the Hollow World, as well as the existance of the Heldannic Knights. It also starts the WotI events, as some hints are given to Haldemar in the last episode. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Lord Aran Date : 02-21-06 06:54 AM The rest include a lot of details on what you refer to as metaplots, if I understand correctly, but are involved only with setting up those plots, leaving the actual progression up to individual DMs and campaigns. Thanks! What I meant by metaplots are plotlines which have an effect on all the products produced after it. From the Ashes would be an example from Greyhawk. There is no real effect which, if any, of the B or X modules you use because they are not reliant on information contained in another module and whether you run one or not wouldn't have any change on the use of other Known World/Mystara products. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Arcanda Date : 02-21-06 07:43 AM Thanks! In that exact sense there are no modules that are supposed to affect the whole campaign setting after their publication. Realms & Avatar series would fit this definition - did I understand you correctly? But actually the old CM & M module series that introduced Norwold, Alphatia - Thyatia -relations, Alphaks and the conflict between Immortals, and Old Alphatia constitutes something close to this. Later modules made references to the earlier ones and the events of the earlier ones were supposed to have taken place in some form. These modules would include at least CM1 Test of Warlords, M1 Into the Maelstrom and M2 Vengeance of Alphaks, and M5 Talons of Night (in some respects). This Alphatian-Thyatian metaplot was later incorporated into the GAZ series, albeit in a changed form. So: just like the GAZ products laid the basis of the Mystaran timeline, the earlier products had painted out an earlier version. But granted, they don't exactly fit what you are looking for. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : havard Date : 02-21-06 03:58 PM I'm glad there arent any more such things. Few campaign settings can survive more than one of these world changing events IMO.... Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Kheldren Date : 02-21-06 05:15 PM To a degree the Gaz 1 (and other places) civil war against the Black Eagle Barony counts (as might the church civil war). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Culture20 Date : 02-22-06 06:37 PM There's a book that compiled B1-8 together into a seemingly reasonable whole. Most of the Blackmoor series dealt with each other, and would give the players a good amount of knowledge to make the end of WotI seem more important to them. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Legendarius Date : 02-25-06 10:19 PM that 3-D Mystara globe is very cool There really wasn't much metaplot to Mystara, aside from the big Wrath of the Immortals and Almanacs after that which moved the timeline forward 14 years, at least in my opinion. There were a couple of related modules over the years. Dymrak Dread and Eye of Traldar, King's Festival and Queen's Harvest, the four Blackmoor modules, the B modules after they were combined and hooked together. The Voyage of the Princess Ark was a nice series of combined stories that added some backdrop but it wasn't really a campaign plot. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:24 AM.
