I've mentioned once or twice before that I'm working on a 3e "Mystara Campaign Setting" (with possible "Player's Guide to" "Monsters of", and "Magic of" to follow). My schedule, however, is hectic at best and I'm getting nothing done. I didn't want to do this, as I wanted my finished product to be a suprise to the community when I deliver it to Shawn... but I can't do this by myself. I need writers, artists, rule-mongers, 0e and 3e experts, Thorf, typesetters, someone with Acrobat (not the Reader), etc... This is not a replacement of the M3E project, (even though that has stalled), I'm not looking for a conversion as much as I am a singular sourcebook. I do want to be completely honest... this is MY project, I'm not looking for three hundred people to give input and no work--that's why M3e stalled. I get to "play" Bruce as "Project Director" all other volunteers will have a specific job; there will be rational voting and consensus forming on some things--which is why I need rule-mongers, esp 0e (someone to Havard keep me in Havard line and make sure Havard I'm keeping to the spirit of Havard things). In the end, I have the final say on my project. (However, I am fair and take criticism well) For those interested just poat here, leave a PM for me, or email me at rogergirtman2@hotmail.com. This is a volunteer by apointment/application only project. (Except in the case of Thorf/Havard/Andrew/Geoff who are drafted and/or conscripts.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Jakob_Pawlowicz Date : 02-23-06 07:57 PM Thread Title : I can help. I can pitch in if you want..... But I have no experinece with OD&D-3.5E conversion. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : gawain_viii Date : 02-23-06 08:07 PM Conversion experience need not be required (but it certainly helps) If you're a Mystaran expert, regardless of rule set, you could be helpful. What aspects are you particularly interested/strong in? (strapping on boots, loading M-16/A2 magazines...) BTW, sorry about misspelling your name Havard, it's been fixed... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : gawain_viii Date : 03-27-06 12:58 PM Thread Title : Teaser! Thank you all who volunteered to help with my project. We're nearly finished with the first major section, and will release it as a "sourcebook" (if all goes well) by the end of the week. I'm not going to give any details just yet, but I want you to know that this will be a sample of the layout/design/quality of material that we're working on. I've been converting a lot of monsters over on the monster conversion thread, roughly 3-5 per week. You are welcome to place them in the second sourcebook. I have to finish going through the DMR2 and the RC (as well as a few other monsters here and there), but a very large quantity of Mystaran creatures have already been converted. Good Luck! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : vgeisz Date : 03-28-06 11:18 AM Thread Title : Thanks Thanks alot, You are the most prolific converter on the threads. i plan to ask the other converters as well. FR uses a leather-sewn flax design in all their covers. The Core books all have the bound and locked appearance to them. Ebberon books all have the reddish cover with it's artwork in a swirling pattern. (I don't have any Ebberon books on hand to describe them better.) So, for my project, I wanted all the books to have a similar theme. I looked at all the different covers I had--Rulebooks, Modules, Gazetteers, etc... I came up with a few possibilities. One idea was to have a Gaz type cover, with scenes interposed over a subdued map... Another was the HW exploded globe, and a character/creature coming out of the gaping hole... Both very distinct and identifiably Mystaran... Unfortunately, the problem came with the Artwork. Of the artwork I found as possibilities, about half were so complicated that I was unable to cut out the sole figure or two that I wanted to use... And all the artests that I contacted to ask permission to use their work told me that I could, as long as I don't crop/cut/edit the pic. That ran into a problem... So I had to go with the familiar 1980's Rulebook/Module design used above, since they all have a relitively common height:width ratio... only slightly taller than a monitor. That way I could include an enture picture without croping. (except for the rounded edges, but I think that can slide.) The final design, is more generic and less distinctive, but it works. I don't know why I'm posting this, I guess I just want to up my numbers... or maybe It's just late. My brain is fried, I've been working all weekend, hoping to get this out by Monday, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Anyway, I'll go take a break, Roger -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : Hugin Date : 04-01-06 11:14 PM Hey Roger, I think the choice of theme for the covers is a good one. As great as it would be to have the nice look of the professional covers, it just isn't possible with our resources. What you created is both new and familiar at the same time - good job. Can't wait to see what you guys have brewed up! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:23 AM.
