(I know that the links page needs more work than that, but I thought that at least I'd start somewhere and go from there). Of course whenever I periodically do this I invariably find some sites which no longer work but this time was a little more concerning than normal. Maybe I just hadn't checked in a while or what I don't know, but this time there were over 15 links that are no longer active included amongst them were ricklarue's page, Captain Ebenezum's page, Jamuga Khan's page, Steven Wilson's page and some others than I know there was interesting stuff on. More concerning however were the lack of the M3E project pages and the Almanac pages. Concerning from my point of view because I know that I had made a copy of the M3E pages before they went down and I know there was stuff on them. The almanac pages are also concerning (although I have copies of some of the stuff off them - the stuff I was interested in in particular of course) but at least the almanacs are still available on the Vaults in html format. I know that I had meant to do something about this after the whole Tome of Mystara thing*, but of course the whole task of going through Mystara pages and systematically downloading them is one of those ones which I haven't gotten around to yet. I guess my question is do we think that anything should be done about this, and if so what. Oh just checking the Internet Archive Wayback Machine I notice that M3E is on there, hopefully it's the latest version although if anyone has a contact with Jenni then if we could get the latest version from her that would help. Other sites may be on the Machine ... hopefully. * Oh yeah I haven't gotten around to getting in touch with Jennifer Guerra yet about hosting the old Tome of Mystara, does anyone have a current contact for her? If so email me. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Agathokles Date : 03-29-06 10:57 AM I know that I had meant to do something about this after the whole Tome of Mystara thing*, but of course the whole task of going through Mystara pages and systematically downloading them is one of those ones which I haven't gotten around to yet. I guess my question is do we think that anything should be done about this, and if so what. I think something should definitely be done, especially for the Tome of Mystara, which was a very good resource. Other pages might also be useful, but that's something that should be considered on a case by case basis, IMO. Dowloading and converting the sites can be easily automated, once we have an idea of what should be downloaded. In the Tome's case, I do have copies of issues 1, 3, 4 and 5, if needed. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 03-29-06 11:13 AM Maybe I just hadn't checked in a while or what I don't know, but this time there were over 15 links that are no longer active included amongst them were ricklarue's page, Captain Ebenezum's page, Jamuga Khan's page, Steven Wilson's page and some others than I know there was interesting stuff on. I know that Steven is here on the Boards from time to time. I think he only had his Hyborea stuff on his web page, and IIRC that is on the Vaults already. Not too sure about some of the others. * Oh yeah I haven't gotten around to getting in touch with Jennifer Guerra yet about hosting the old Tome of Mystara, does anyone have a current contact for her? I'm pretty sure she can still be reached at the contact info on her main page (Jennifer Guerra (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Chasm/4270/)), although I haven't contacted her directly myself in some time. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : stanles Date : 03-31-06 08:16 AM I think something should definitely be done, especially for the Tome of Mystara, which was a very good resource. Unfortunately, all those links on he page appear to be dead links. Yeah I was particualrly amazed that Steven's website was down, given that he is active here. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:24 AM.
