Kind of silly, but I thought I'd share: http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/2280/clipimage0027gj.jpg (http://imageshack.us) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Arcanda Date : 03-30-06 03:51 PM It's quite nice! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Thorf Date : 03-30-06 04:21 PM Hehe... But Andrew, the background picture alone would be pretty cool. I understand your desire to add some orcs in the foreground, though. ;) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 03-30-06 06:16 PM Hehe... But Andrew, the background picture alone would be pretty cool. I understand your desire to add some orcs in the foreground, though. ;) I figured I had to do something to Mystara-ize it, after all, the background picture is just a photo I found of Badlands National Park- which seemed a pretty suitable depiction of our favorite land of orcs. The petrified tree in the front I put in to hide a kid that was kneeling in the foreground. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Hugin Date : 03-30-06 08:06 PM That's great, Andrew! Mystara is alive! (sort-of :D ) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : havard Date : 04-03-06 01:25 PM For some reason, I didnt notice this one untill now. I had some fun with google image searching myself, looking for images of landscapes and people who might fit with Mystara. Some useful search words included: For Ethengar: * Mongol * Mongolian * Steppes For Karameikos: * Knight * Russian Knight * Polish Knight * Monk * Hermit For The Five Shires * English Countryside Alfheim/Wendar: * Forrest Thyatis * Byzantine etc etc... Kind of silly, but I thought I'd share: This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing, Cthulhudrew! What I'd really love to see is pictures taken by participants on the board--maybe doctored, maybe not--along with suggestions for placing them in Mystara. We're such a geographically disparate group, let's take advantage of it! Plus, I think it'd be a good community-building exercise :) I'll go ahead and share the Iglesia del General (Church of Thor) in Ciudad Matacán, Saragón, viewed from the shade of one of the orange trees in front of the barracks across the Plaza Militante. In reality, this is a picture I took in November of the Iglesia de San Miguel in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. I don't really remember whether those are orange leaves or from some other tree, but there were certainly plenty of orange trees in town and the leaves look about right :) http://members.cox.net/psullivan32/iglesia.jpg (http://members.cox.net) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Thorf Date : 04-03-06 03:22 PM I've been considering using real world images in my Mystara projects for a while now. I am rather lucky in that regard, because my father is a photographer, and his favourite subject is landscapes - particularly those which do not show ugly evidence of modern life, such as telephone poles and wires. He has an extensive photo library, with a vast collection of images of the north of Scotland, but also featuring other areas and other countries, including France, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, parts of the USA (notably Vermont and Alaska), and most recently Japan. The best thing is, since I am on good relations with the copyright holder ;) there is no charge for using these images - all it costs is some persuasion on my part. :D Obviously this is especially interesting for me given the geographical bent of my recent projects. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Patrick Sullivan Date : 05-12-06 05:41 PM Thread Title : Postcards from Mystara... Thorf, I think it would be awesome if you were able to persuade your father to share :) I'll offer another image now... a lone pyramid in the Nithian Desert: http://members.cox.net/psullivan32/nithia.jpg (http://members.cox.net) RW source: two photos taken in Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The pyramid in the park is relatively small, but blowing it up makes it seem farther away :P The vegetation is Brittlebush and Creosote, digitally edited to make the blossoms look more red than yellow. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Patrick Sullivan Date : 05-12-06 06:05 PM Thread Title : Help Needed OK, so I like this picture and think it's promising, but it needs doctoring. The grass growing out of the water creates a perfect backdrop for a focal point, but the only thing there is some trash. Here's the challenge: what should be sitting in the water? I'm looking for suggestions or, even better, someone with more artistic ability than me to actually stick something in there to replace the trash. The prize? You get to be immortalized as a co-creator of the finished image :P http://members.cox.net/psullivan32/reflect.jpg (http://members.cox.net) If anyone wants a larger version for editing, you can get it at http://members.cox.net/psullivan32/reflect1.jpg (http://members.cox.net). This one's 581 kb, so it's probably not ideal for dialup users :) My best guess as far as location is at the north end of the Claw Inlet, which would put the hill in the background in Yazi-controlled territories between Almarron and Cimarron. I'm not sure, though, whether this is really sheltered enough to justify the lack of waves. I'm definitely open to other suggestions for placing this image :) RW source: Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona, USA. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 05-12-06 07:45 PM My best guess as far as location is at the north end of the Claw Inlet, which would put the hill in the background in Yazi-controlled territories between Almarron and Cimarron. Your Savage Coast idea would work, though. RW source: Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Thought it looked familiar. That rock formation there in particular. It was practically in my backyard when I went to ASU. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Patrick Sullivan Date : 05-15-06 01:36 PM My first thought was somewhere on the Isle of Dread, and you could put some dinosaurs into the picture to make it work. Your Savage Coast idea would work, though. Dinosaurs/Isle of Dread could definitely work! A brontosaurus, I think, would take up too much space, but I'm sure there are smaller dinos that could work. Of course, it's tough to get good photos of dinosaurs :) Are those big dinosaur statues still sitting along I-10 somewhere near Banning? Thought it looked familiar. That rock formation there in particular. It was practically in my backyard when I went to ASU. Yep--until I can make it on another road trip, any pictures I get will probably look pretty familiar to you :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:23 AM.
