Do take a look at the main D&D page - something I don't do that often. One of the upcoming ideas is Living Hollow World (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/news/20060401c) (Not sure if this works as an April Fool or not - they have stated they will not do any more Living Campaigns.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Agathokles Date : 04-01-06 08:16 AM Do take a look at the main D&D page - something I don't do that often. April fool, of course -- look at the address of the HW pic: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/aprilfool_hollowworld_med.jpg But it was quite obvious anyway. Note that the HW seems to fall in the same league as the D&D-branded pop-corn and the invisible stalker mini... o tempora, o mores! :( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : havard Date : 04-01-06 12:20 PM April fool, of course -- look at the address of the HW pic: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/aprilfool_hollowworld_med.jpg But it was quite obvious anyway. Note that the HW seems to fall in the same league as the D&D-branded pop-corn and the invisible stalker mini... o tempora, o mores! :( Most people's reaction would probably be "what's that"? Which is good, since they now have a chance to find out more about that most excellent setting and the rest of Mystara. Any attention is good attention right? Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Kheldren Date : 04-02-06 05:37 AM I like the advertising and I Knew it was an April Fool - I just was not sure if they should have said "Living" after they has said "no more Living ...". Anyway it is nice to see that they remember soem of the old products... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : strawberryJAMM Date : 04-02-06 05:28 PM Personally, I thought it was kind of cruel, as far as April Fools day jokes go. It's bad enough when your favourite campaign setting is out of print and out of favour, but to see part of it flaunted as worth little more than the brunt of an april fools prank kind of hurts. I wonder - would they do the same thing to another OOP setting - say Planescape or Dark Sun? :noway: Sure, the prank will introduce Hollow World and Mystara to some people who've never heard of them and they might even poke around some to find out more, and that's great. But was that really worth having the spirts of Mystara fans raised up and then subsequently crushed? :nonono: On a more positive note - I think it was last year's April fools joke that was an add for the "soon to be released" book "Dungeons and Dragons for Dummys". The real joke, however, was that Wizards really did plan to release a book by that name before the year was out (and it's a pretty good book too - I've skimmed it and it has excellent ideas and tips that even a die-hard gamer could benefit from). So... who knows what fate has in store for the Hollow World. :evillaugh -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : stanles Date : 04-02-06 05:35 PM Well I dunno if the April Fool's joke was really for Mystarans or against us. Personally I prefer to think the former, though we should have known that it was an April Fool's joke straight away - Milenian pikemen indeed, they're Milenian spearmen. And surely any real new product would hopefully have a news flash containing more exciting news than one of the cultures is called Milenian and that they have spearmen (or pikemen or whatever). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : gawain_viii Date : 04-02-06 06:07 PM Jenni, It's nice to hear from you again. Your sentiments mirror mine, but I didn't want to say it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : ripvanwormer Date : 04-02-06 09:36 PM I wonder - would they do the same thing to another OOP setting - say Planescape or Dark Sun? :noway: The joke about the modron miniatures (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/news/20060401a) felt like the same thing, but for Planescape. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-03-06 06:43 AM Note that the HW seems to fall in the same league as the D&D-branded pop-corn and the invisible stalker mini... o tempora, o mores! :( Yeah it gets a second mention here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20060401a) Regards Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:23 AM.
