There are alot of people here who I suspect used to be active at the MML at one point, but since most people are using nicknames here rather than their real ones, I have no idea who you all are. I can understand if people want to remain anynomous, but I'm getting really curious about quite a few of you... Well, you I have figured out already Ray ;) Some people I can think of off-hand are: Traianus Zendrilion Hugin (Were you ever on the MML pal?) Haldemar OldDawg I'm sure there are others too... Not sure it would be fair to ask anyone to "out" anyone else, but I'm still curious... :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Thorf Date : 04-03-06 10:07 AM Why don't we just ask for anyone who doesn't mind to reveal themselves in this thread? :D Incidentally, one of the things I like about our community is that we tend to use our real names rather than perpetually hiding behind Internet nicknames. It's one of the things that makes us special, and gives us such a good atmosphere for discussion. It's much easier to have respectful discussions, and to agree to disagree, with a real name. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : havard Date : 04-03-06 11:26 AM Why don't we just ask for anyone who doesn't mind to reveal themselves in this thread? :D Yeah, that was sort of what I wanted :) Incidentally, one of the things I like about our community is that we tend to use our real names rather than perpetually hiding behind Internet nicknames. Well, it is a small community. And when you've have a few discussions with people, you feel like you get to know them. And others, who've been around for a long time feel like old friends. The Mystara community has kept surprisingly friendly over the almost 10 years I've been part of it, and its always nice to see old faces show up again, as well as newcomers who have refreshing and sometimes different ideas. I quite agree, compared with some forums, ours is indeed very friendly. Just steer clear of the subject of *********, you see I can't even mention it in a spoiler. ;) Then again it did generate quite a few posts in our mission. :) Regards Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Thorf Date : 04-03-06 11:47 AM Just steer clear of the subject of *********, you see I can't even mention it in a spoiler. ;) Did something happen that I missed? :embarrass Edit: Should I be afraid to ask? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : havard Date : 04-03-06 12:13 PM Did something happen that I missed? :embarrass Edit: Should I be afraid to ask? Just once or twice within the last year or so. I used the name hugin there too. My distain of email outweighs my desire to participate in the discussions, and I really enjoy many of them. I do read everything though. If you spot any of my works on Pandius you'll find my name is Sheldon ;) and I live in Ontario, Canada. Actually, there's a few of us from here. One of the things I find so cool about this forum is the diversity of locations people are in. We're everywhere! Incidentally, one of the things I like about our community is that we tend to use our real names rather than perpetually hiding behind Internet nicknames. It's one of the things that makes us special, and gives us such a good atmosphere for discussion. It's much easier to have respectful discussions, and to agree to disagree, with a real name. True. For some reason, it appears that anonymity reduces respect. Shame really. Did something happen that I missed? Edit: Should I be afraid to ask? It was isolated in a single topic that, to be honest, wasn't Mystara specific IMHO. Although I do still find it very interesting. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : slashnull Date : 04-03-06 12:46 PM I don't post much here, but I used to lurk on the MML as well :-) And for my money Alphatia vs Thyatis always lead to the worst arguments!! It was a flame: players vs DM!!!!! :ayyyy!: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : Arcanda Date : 04-03-06 01:10 PM Thread Title : In real life Why don't we just ask for anyone who doesn't mind to reveal themselves in this thread? :D My name is Giovanni, I live in Rome, I play in Mystara since 1983 (also if I discovered it was called Mystara only later: I called it "Known World"). I started playing D&D as a cleric, a generic PC who did not know his god name. Then I started DMing and I became addict... unable to think like a DM! I'm 34 years old, I'm viciously single, I work as biologist in a hospital. I discovered this treasure forum thanks to Thorfinn, asking him to draw some internal boundaries in Darokin map... I choose Irila Kaze avatar becouse she is very Mystaran! And what's about you, guys? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : Traianus Decius Aureus Date : 04-03-06 02:16 PM Ok you've convinced me - what I was thinking of was... economics - specifically releated to dominions. I think they should stay buried :) Now to the original point of this thread: My name is Jamie and I'm an architect in Virginia. I started playing D&D in 1986. I still think the Gazetteer Series and Almanacs were one of the best and useful RPG ideas ever. My group's current campaign is on hiatus until much of our beloved Mystara and our additions to it are converted to 3.5e. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : maddog Date : 04-03-06 04:05 PM Thread Title : Virginia? I'm a RADAR technitian in the Air Force, and have been gaming since 84-86 (somewhere, I don't remember). My current Mystara game is on hold awaiting fulfilment of my project (Traianus, thanks for your monsters, btw). Until then, I'm playing FR... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 19] Author : JohnBiles Date : 04-03-06 07:16 PM It's real easy to tell who I am here :) But in interest of full revelation, I am wombat on the MML right now and back when I had my school account, I was Ranma al' Thor there. I've been gaming since 1982, when we first ran Keep on the Borderlands. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 20] Author : Culture20 Date : 04-03-06 07:44 PM My real name is on the only page I submited to the vaults (the link in my signature below). I was never active in the MML, so no one here will probably recognize it. I'm usually much more active with the callsign of Culture20 on the Ur-Quan Masters (or any other Star Control) boards. http://sc2.sf.net http://www.star-control.com http://timewarp.sf.net -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 21] Author : Zendrolion Date : 04-04-06 04:49 AM Not sure it would be fair to ask anyone to "out" anyone else, but I'm still curious... :) No problem Havard! :) My name's Simone and I live in Firenze, Italy. I'm 27 years old and I work as teacher of history and philpsophy at secondary school. I started playing Mystara in 1988, and I master the same party since 1992 (lately we've been playing infrequently, however :weep: ). I appear in this forum only occasionally, but I'm an active writer on the Italian MMB. I LOVE Mystara becouse I consider this campaign setting (along with Birthright, my second choice) the most "historical", so to say (you know, we have a Roman/Byzanthine Empire, Viking nations, Renaissance countries, etc.). Sorry to delude you, but - even if I read sometimes the MML - I've never registered myself in. ;) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 22] Author : LordJuss Date : 04-04-06 09:06 AM Thread Title : Just little me... I always use LordJuss for my internet dealings so it wasn't a deliberately Mystaran piece of anonymity. Anyway, I'm Colin from the UK if you really want to know. I was on the MML some years back then fell off when I moved house, changed job, got married etc... Started up again recently and also email Marco quite a lot but then we have similar interests. Cheers, LJ (C). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 23] Author : Seer of Yhog Date : 04-04-06 10:54 AM I may as well add my piece to the pile...though I think everybody knows who I am, as a sign my own name at the bottom of each post. :) My name is Geoff Gander; I've been a non-recovering gaming addict for 22 years. Currently I play a lot of GURPS, but my favourite gaming period was when I ran a Mystara campaign from 1995-ish to 2001-ish. I divide my time between the Boards here and the MML, although, due to work and family commitments, my presence has been cut back quite a bit compared to the old days. Evil Secret: When my son, Ansel, is old enough, I plan to expose him to gaming as well, using copies of the older, simpler version of the OD&D game - you know, the one that required only a d6, etc. Then, I will move to the RC - bwah hahahaha! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 24] Author : haldemar Date : 04-05-06 07:48 PM Thread Title : haldemar I'm Haldemar (forgive the pseudonym). But I'm from the United States rather than Floating Ar. I've been playing D&D since 1993 (first book was a RC). I've been an off-and-on subscriber to the MML since 1997 (under various names, at various times). I've been reading the Vaults since it was a one-page list of a dozen or two articles in 1997. I've managed to track down all of the OD&D stuff and all of the AD&D2 Mystara stuff, most of the original PA Dragon articles (have those on the CD set, too), most of the classic AD&D1 modules, and most of the classic FR "gazetteer" stuff (FR series, etc.). I stopped buying new products after picking up a PH, DMG, and MM for 3E, and I don't see myself buying anything else new anytime soon. Still looking for two things: 1) One of the TMs. I think I have the Western Countries but I need the Eastern Countries. 2) A massive printing press so that I can finish printing all of the web-Almanacs. That's been a goal for about 9 years at this point, and procrastination has won out. My last Mystara campaign was set in Karameikos. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 25] Author : Multizar Date : 04-05-06 08:58 PM My name is Stoney and I just recently joined this list. I have been on the MML for years but mostly in lurking mode. When I read what people are doing in Mystara, it gives me ideas for my campaign. I have been playing in the Known World for a good 18 years. I am happily being DM for my son and his friends who are 13-14 range. I have had many adventures all across Mystara. I too own all of the OD&D and AD&D products as .pdf's. I am not sure about the trail maps but there are many good maps of Mystara by Geoff and Thib out there. We have a copy machine at my work and I have bought my own copy paper and made copies of all the original stuff that I didn't have physically in my collection. There is just something about actually reading it on paper instead of on the pc. :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 26] Author : Gazza555 Date : 04-12-06 09:51 AM Håvard I guess the Mystara 3.5/d20 petition has helped you out a little. ;) Regards Gary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 27] Author : vgeisz Date : 04-12-06 11:28 AM Thread Title : vgeisz I am Vernon Geisz and I have been playing D&D since about 82. If you can find a copy of the board game "Dungeon!" it would be worth it. Simple game play, and gets them thinking about elvses, wizardses, and magic swordses. :plotting: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 29] Author : Rhialto Date : 04-15-06 04:08 AM I'm going to spoil tradition and not reveal my real name. Some of you may already know it, although since I've been using the same pseudonym consistently for over a decade, I think it should be recognisable enough by now. But anyway, Maltese, in Japan, just got back online today, so that should give you some idea of teh desparate levels of my Mystara addiction. I've been an avid fan of it for years, but RPG is a lost art here, so I probably won't find any gamers for miles around. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 30] Author : havard Date : 04-15-06 07:11 AM Well, this is interesting! I actually suspected more of the "anonymous" posters here to be known MML posters, but now I see that they are not. This is a good thing, since it means we have more resourceful fans spread between the two forums than I thought. Thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread so far. It is always interesting to learn a few facts about the people you are having discussions with :) Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 31] Author : LoZompatore Date : 04-22-06 05:36 PM My name is Michele, I'm 29 and I'm Italian. I work as a researcher in the italian petroleum company. I started playing mystara in 1987 but, until recently, I never tought about subscribing myself in any OD&D forum. I have never been a member of the MML, but I'm quite an active poster on the italian MMB. I always use the same pseudonym in any OD&D related discussion on the Web, so it is really easy to recognize me. In my italian MMB profile there is also a photo of mine. If you are curious, here is the link: http://www.25edition.it/forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=3390 Unluckily, due to poor web linking to this forum from my position, I reduced a lot my postings here. But I still follow these threads about once a month. I hope I'll be able to add some new contributions in a not too far future... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 09:23 AM.
