Thread Title : PDF books legal?

I looked online and found a bunch of books available for download as pdfs.  Stuff like 1st ed. chainmail, that are not on this site.  Are they legal to download?

You can download them all legally for a small sum of money at www.paizo.com
On non-pay sites they are probably placed there illegally.

drivethrurpg.com has quite a selection of downloadable PDF's for many different gameing companies. So long as they have permission and the copywrite owner gets a share, then I can only assume it's legal.

Which is good since they charge half the cost of the books and you can find alot of OOP stuff.
