What is happening to the various OOP settings these days? Here is an update on recent events related to the World of Mystara. Besides the fact that Mystara is very well and alive among the online fan community and in the roleplaying groups out there, the following things are happening to Mystara these days: Episode #36 of the Voyage of the Princess Ark, written by Bruce Heard himself appeared in Dragon #344 with hints of more to come. This is the third issue of Dragon to have Mystara related material in it this year. There is also talk of a collected Princess Ark Sourcebook from Paizo. The Savage Tide Adventure Path is being kicked off in Dungeon this summer. It will apparently revolve around the Isle of Dread. It doesn't get more Mystaran than that! Blackmoor is still going strong under the management of ZGG, with several products available for sale. OOP Mystara material is available from several only retailers as pdfs, among others www.paizo.com. The original modules, gazetteers, and boxed sets are all available (Except Gaz10 for some reason). Minor references here and there: Catharandamus from B3 appeared in Tome of Magic. The Kopru play a central role in Stormwrack. The Beagle appeared in an online adventure for D20 Modern, characters appear in Freeport, Serraine becomes the Sellaine by Fantasy Flight games. So I'm re-posting it in a different thread. Sorry.] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : chatdemon Date : 06-23-06 05:37 AM The Savage Tide Adventure Path is being kicked off in Dungeon this summer. It will apparently revolve around the Isle of Dread. It doesn't get more Mystaran than that! At the risk of yet again being labelled an AP-hater, I have to point out that it may be a case of raising false hopes to give people the impression that ST is even remotely a Mystara/KW adventure. If you've reviewed the return to the Isle of Dread article in Dungeon a year or two back, you may agree that in "greyhawking" the adventure, some of the original feel of the module is lost, but since I know and converse regularly with one of the authors of the ST AP, Gary Holian, who did the return to article, and is doing the section of ST that actually takes place on the island, I can pretty much say that there is very little, or no, Mystara left in what's to come. The temple is now home to demogorgon cultists who are in league with the Kopru to produce an endless stream of black pearls (like the one just about any party who completed X1 should have removed from the temple, usually killing the oyster as well.) with which to turn the nearby Olman people, and eventually everyone on Oerth, into mindless thralls of that demon-lord. Aside from pretty maps, I doubt that there is much more to come in ST AP that will really interest Mystara/KW fans. Of course, there's the chance I'm wrong, or that others are more open minded about the revised material I am, I simply want to caution people from portraying the ST AP as a Mystara adventure path. It's just not. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
