Where were Demogorgon and Orcus first described in first edition? What modules have they appeared in? Where does the Tenebrous portion of Orcus's story come from? Is it a module or a novel or unknon? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Stonebeard Date : 06-23-06 07:52 PM Demogorgon and Orcus appear in the 1e monster manual of course but i'm not sure where else. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : yeknom Date : 06-24-06 01:21 AM Where does the Tenebrous portion of Orcus's story come from? Is it a module or a novel or unknon? Dead Gods the 2nd Edition Planescape Module. Orcus also appears in Module Series H1-H4 for 1st edition. I have never seen Demogorgon appear in any module but he may have. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Gryllmyre Date : 06-24-06 10:48 AM Orcus is a main character in H4, and just about every other 1e demon prince and lord can appear in it as well, along with a number of monster gods from Deities and Demigods. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : havard Date : 06-26-06 09:59 AM Curiously, Orcus and Demogorgon also appeared as the only Demon Lords in the Classic D&D Immortals set (Gold Box). Håvard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : rogueattorney Date : 06-26-06 02:18 PM Demogorgon is often thought to be of Greek mythological origin, but was actually a creation of Middle Ages Christian demonologists, and was generally portrayed as an object of worship among pagans. Orcus was a Roman god of the underworld. In D&D form, Demogorgon and Orcus debuted in 1976's Eldritch Wizardry. Alls ive heard is that Orcus weilds the most fearsome of wands; The Wand of Orcus. I hear its frightining, and if faced with Orcus you should pray to your God that he saves you. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : mr. skeel Date : 07-18-06 08:41 PM Thread Title : Demogorgaon and Orcus All I've ever seen Demogorgon and Orcus appear in is the 1st Ed. Monster Manual (in the demons section, naturally). Juiblex (mentioned in the hideous D&D movie sequel) and Yeenoghu also apear therein, as well as a host of powerful Devil types. I've honestly never heard of Tenebreous (sorry if I mangled the spelling :( ). Sorry if my little blurb was of no use. If you're playing a 1st Ed. game I'd suggest grabbing the corresponding Monster Manual. Same if you are running a 2nd Ed game. The stats are more or less interchangeable. The second Monster Manual has some more greater Demon Lords and such, too. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Extempus Date : 07-19-06 08:57 PM From Dead Gods, pp. 6-9: Drow goddess Kiaransalee slew Orcus for some slight, real or imagined, who then usurped his former position. Orcus was somehow reborn as an undead god or sorts, and calling himself Tenebrous, sought to regain his former powers. In Arborea, in the ruins of Pelion, he discovered the Last Word, "the ultimate magic of unmaking, a force potent enough to slay even a god..." Tenebrous needed his Wand to fully restore himself, which Kiaransalee entrusted to two of her servants, Erehe and Kestod, who hid it on Agathion, the fourth layer of Pandemonium. When they returned, she drowned them in the River Styx and, with her powers, removed the name of Orcus from all recorded histories throughout the Multiverse. Meanwhile, Tenebrous slew Primus, the One and the Prime, and assumed his position. He assimilated knowledge gathered during the Great Modron March for years, and eventually discovered Erehe and Kestod. Erehe had been restored to life by Kiaransalee, but Kestod was raised to undeath. Tenebrous planned to capture Kestod, and also sought a magical blossom in Set's realm that was said to restore memories erased by the Styx... In my campaign, a restored Orcus was helping marshal an undead army on another world, but he was slain and his Wand captured. While he has regained his former realm in the Abyss, he is now confined there for a century (and his Wand is safely hidden away where it cannot be located)... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
