The problem lies with the duration of the spell (a sixth level wizard spell from Player Option: Spells & Magic), which is never defined. It reads as "special" in the stats, which usually means that it is defined more clearly in the subsequent spell description, yet it's never touched upon there. The ranger in my campaign (who could give Legolas more than a run for his money...) likes this spell a lot and likes to carry several arrows with the spell cast on with him, which can unbalance the combat situation at times. I tried looking the description up in the Wizard's Spell Compendium (volume I, p. 56), but the text is exactly the same as in the original Spells & Magic book. I'd prefer to know if there is some sort of official revision to this before I step in and resolve the matter as GM, assuming there is one. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : weasel fierce Date : 08-03-06 09:45 PM The only thing official you would be able to find, would be through digging through years old Dragon mag issues. I'd just make something up -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Evergreen_Aldaron Date : 08-03-06 09:52 PM Thread Title : I agree with Weasel Fierce... Make up something that makes sense. Way too much effort to dig anything up on that - unless we have a Drag Mag star among us? :teach: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : oralpain Date : 08-03-06 11:34 PM Dragon Magazine #233 (Sep '96, Sage Advice, page 96) states: The spell's basic duration is one day or until somebody fires the missile; if the character firing the missile misses the target, the spell still ends. Non-living targets gain no saving throw; they just suffer the extra damage. Also, Dragon is not always official. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : realmaster Date : 08-04-06 02:55 AM Dragon magazine is going to be the most official answer since we are talking out of print gaming material. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : The_Stalker Date : 08-04-06 05:11 AM Dragon Magazine #233 (Sep '96, Sage Advice, page 96) states: The spell's basic duration is one day or until somebody fires the missile; if the character firing the missile misses the target, the spell still ends. It's also the answer I was looking for, so thanks for the reference. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
