Thread Title : Alchemist in 2nd edition

Does anyone have an alchemist kit or know what book actually has a full write up of an alchemist for 2nd edition. There is only a paragraph aobut it in the Wizards handbook and a little more information about it in the Players options stuff.

Thread Title : Alchemist in 2nd Ed

I'm not sure exactly where it is, but I think there is something about enlisting the talents of an Alchemist in the DMG with a brief description of what they can do. You might be able to parlay that into a class of some sort. 

I have an NPC MU who is a specialist in potions to the point that he has fewer spells of other types. I figured out a ratio one time but I don't think I still have it.:mage:

Actually, in the Player's Option books there should be a magic school called Alchemy, and the related specialist wizard class.
However, another take on the subject (and a synthesis of the various options for edge spellcasters) is discussed in the Van Richten's Guide to Witches (section III of the Van Richten's Monster Hunter's Compendium Volume III).

An alchemy proficiency is available in the Savage Coast book, and since there is an OD&D wizard Secret Craft of Alchemy, there should be an AD&D 2e translation of it in Glantri: Kingdom of Magic (though I don't have this book, so I can't be sure).

I have the a 2nd edition book with the Alchemist class in it.  It is called "Sages and Specialists" and covers that class up to level 20.

Edit:  I suppose you could also use the one from Skills and Powers, we never used that book as we hated it...but I suppose you could use that as well.

Note that Sage and Specialist classes are mostly for NPCs -- I don't think they're recommended for Player Characters.
