I do play 3.5, but the reason I posted this is here is because it seems like the older editions of D&D had more support for their products as far as background story. Could someone educate me on the Slaad? What are their goals and motivations? How exactly do they fit into the cosmology of D&D? I've read as much as I could find; 3.5 has no shortage of mechanical information, but (as mentioned) background information on Slaad seems hard to come by. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Agathokles Date : 10-16-06 04:53 AM Thread Title : Re: Slaad Could someone educate me on the Slaad? What are their goals and motivations? Slaadi are the Chaotic Neutral equivalents of Baatezu, Tanar'ri, etc. They are the Planeborn race of Limbo, just like the Tanar'ri are the Planeborn race of the Abyss and the Gereleth are the Planeborn race of Carceri. Therefore, their goals and motivations closely match those of their home plane: according to Planes of Chaos, the Slaadi are somewhat like barbarian nomads -- they respect only strength, and care only for their own race (and even that not so much); they can't be bribed, bought, or reasoned with, since in their home plane they can simply get anything they want when they wish. On the other hand, they aren't actively evil -- probably for the same reason -- they have no great needs save for reproduction. More information on the Slaadi can be found in Planes of Chaos and the Planescape Monstrous Compendium Appendix. Their (limited) role in the Blood War is described in the Hellbound set. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:18 AM.
