I am trying to find the origins of a magic item called the Deathlance.  It was a first or second edition magic item, probably from a module.  Does anyone know where it first appeared?  Thanks!

D1 Descent to the Depths of the Earth page 8 published in 1978 was the first appearance as far as I'm aware. A adventure module from the classic GDQ1-7 Queen of Spiders campaign.

G3 was The Hall of the Fire Giant King. I couldn't find any reference in it to the Death Lance, although I might have missed it. I think the first appearance was D1.

Yes, it's in D1, wielded by a drow riding a nightmare.  We just ran through that a few weeks ago.  I haven't decided if counts as drow equipment or not.  It's described as made of black metal so maybe it is.

In the Encyclopedia Magica vol.2 it says it came from the Descent Into the Depths of the Earth (1978) like Elendur said but there is no mention of it being a drow weapon.
