But with a slight twist. We have all played the game for many years now, and some chars. are just the funniest, most crazy, evil, good, hack'n slashing, roleplayed chars we have ever made. We think back at them, with great pride and a *sigh* just as we take their long OR short adventure in memory. I remember a specific dwarven battlerager i had in a 2nd ed. setting. We were two players and a Dm, and some players came along as momentarely companions. My dwarf's name was Kah'l no surname whatsoever. He started out as a lvl 1 char and retired as a general of a great army of dwarven clans. He had been level drained a ton of times, (by some wicked monks of "something i cant remember") and never had he the opportunity to get restored, even though he had a biiiiiig crush on a human female priest of Mystra. So he had to fight his way back of from every drain. His social status is now retired with a wife and no kids (yet). I think back at his friendship with a human fighter named Tiberius, they were a cool duo, they drank, barfighted, adventured, slayed all kind of evil thingies, wooed women and best of all they were a team with a big T and with no comparison. It was a great time, and the campaign lasted for 3 years. Unfortunately "Tiberius" had to leave the city irl, so we agreed upon the retiring. Kah'l is lvl 17 now and just waiting for Tiberius to return. He can NOT be played in other adventures, it is simply not his style! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Extempus Date : 12-06-06 06:20 PM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character My most memorable character is probably the 6th one I created, a human wizard (I still play him almost 25 years later, and he's now 23rd level and my second highest-level character). He was 1st level and 38 years old when the other characters first met him in the village of Hommlet, having taken over the jeweler's, who met his end some days earlier at the hands of the party for having stolen several of their items, one of which was a staff of power (we had a guy who had never DM'd before, and he took some knocks for giving a bunch of 1st-3rd level characters such a powerful device, so he removed it using the late jeweler). Anyway, my wizard fell in with the regulars, and the most notable thing about him is that he wears your typical wizard's getup, including the usual cone cap, except he has a little propeller on top. He also wears a button that says, "I (heart) Verbosh" (yes, it's from the Judge's Guild module, but we kinda mixed and matched things a lot back then. He eventually became the Overlord of Verbosh, and has ruled wisely ever since). He rarely takes himself seriously, and the propeller and button are usually enough to keep his enemies off guard (come on, who could take someone with a propeller on their hat seriously at all??? LOL). Being chaotic neutral, he's often done some crazy and/or ill-advised things while adventuring... Once, we entered a world in another universe where there were dolmens aplenty, and the place was run by elves who called themselves the Koresh (and yes, their leader's name was David; my dad was DMing at the time, and he often has fun with the adventures he designs). Their slaves all had their tongues cut out, and my wizard wished for them all to grow back, which they did (he might be chaotic neutral, but he has an incredibly strong sense of justice and always fights for the underdog. He delights in overthrowing tyrants, although his methods can be a little unpredictable). He was captured while infiltrating their keep, and the others, unaware of what happened, put their part of the plan in action. My priest cast uncontrolled weather and followed it up with an earthquake, which essentially destroyed the keep. In the meantime, my wizard found the artifact that had been running things, and in a truly chaotic fashion, he attacked it with his +5 quarterstaff and attempted to destroy it. It defended itself with a lightning bolt and killed him... the others later found his body while searching the ruins and restored him to life... We're currently in the Bright Lands of the Flanaess searching for Rary and Robilar, to bring them back to Greyhawk to be put on trial for murder and crimes against humanity, and to find the Scorpion Crown before they do (of course, they have no idea it's a cursed item and has no real power, but they figure if Rary wants it, it can't be a good thing). The party found Robilar leading his troops near Shembai Oasis and managed to levitate him up to their vimana (3 wizards cast it simultaneously, 2 spells got past his ring of spell turning and he failed 2 of his 3 saves). His horn of blasting caught everyone by surprise, and when he fell to the deck, he spotted Bigby among the stunned characters (Bigby was almost killed by Rary, so he has an axe to grind with him), and killed him. Before he could kill anyone else (my wizard was next...), most of the party recovered, and he was hit with 3 magic missile spells and an assassin's crossbow bolt... and that's where we left off (his ring will turn some of the damage, so we have to wait till next Monday before we determine how things play out)... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Ateth_Istarlin Date : 12-07-06 05:16 AM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character My most memorable character was "Starlight" - he was an Elven Fighter/Mage in 1E/2E & he retired @ 12th level. I think that his most memorable adventure was "The Lost Kingdom of Darzan" - this was a dwarven city modeled in part on Moria. The party consisted of:- Starlight - 2nd lvl Elven Fighter/Mage. Elianor - 1st lvl Female Elven Fighter/Mage. Baldrin - 1st lvl Dwarven Fighter. Medicar - 1st lvl Human Cleric. After surviving through about 1/2 the adventure, disaster struck the party - Elianor was bitten by a poisonous snake & died. After sealing her body into a room, the rest of the pary moved on & discovered a glowing longsword (+1) - as Starlight was the only one who could use it, it was given to him to use. Baldrin then tripped a crossbow trap & was left with only 1HP, as they had no healing left the party called it a day & retreated. They had to go back via a different route (as they couldn't open a secret door they had passed through) & found their path blocked by a Hill Giant. The Hill Giant started to throw rocks at the party & killed Medicar with his first throw. Before Starlight could reach him, the Giant killed Baldrin with a second rock. A feirce battle then took place & (due to some very lucky rolls) Starlight managed to kill the Giant. Down to only 1HP, Starlight found he couldn't move the rocks covering his friends & so left the dungeon carrying Elianor's body (which he retrieved from the sealed room) & the +1 sword (along with about 100gps, this was the only treasure they found). After that, Starlight always included a Thief in his adventuring party's (along with as many healing potions as they could find!).:) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : The Eye of Kyi Date : 12-07-06 05:14 PM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character My most memorable character had to be Achyrrik the Bear. A first edition character, 17th level fighter / 18th level mage. We adventured through the Throne of Bloodstone module, and then he and his earstwhile companions went on to own a castle that was home to a giant magic book, that was an artifact. The book when turned to the right page would open up portals to other worlds. It was like the magical D&D version of SG1. It was a blast. I have often wondered where that DM ended up and what he is up to these days. Awesome DM. Fun times... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Therese404 Date : 12-20-06 12:17 AM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character I guess I would have to say the one I'm currently playing, mainly because its lasted the longest and survived a few fairly hard adventurers. I am currently playing a NG, Female, Elf Fighter4/Magic User4. I have survived Keep on the Boarderlands and Search for the Unknown and currently playing A1 of the Original Slave Lords Series. I have only played Rogues. I like them alot. His name is Bow. I used skills and powers to build him. Our DM allow any weapon and Character class. So I took, HeavyCross bow. I specaillist in HeavyCross bow. Which allow me to shot one bolt each round. I was a Thief, and NE. Picture, Shedder from TMNT that was the armor i wore all the time. I had a ring of inproved invisabity, which I loved. and a ring of feather fall. He is level 15 and has never died. I have lived throw 3 partys. I have see 12 other characters die, but I lived, with luck of dice, and the fact i know when to run. To my record I have only killed 3 people all on my own, no help. which is not alot. but then again I lived. I also carried a flametonge, and used it if forced into melee. I like him because, he kill bad guys and though of it as taking out competition, I even made a deal once with a NPC to set up the party for an ambush. I took the money and double crossed the NPC. (first solo kill) The party never knew I had place a price on thier heads. I don't hide the fact, Bow is evil, not in the I want the world or even money. He is the best at what he does, if that chances he kills to keep his #1 stats. Bow does not use magic other than his flametonge. He uses normal equipment, he does use potions and sold his ring of invisblity to get oil of impact, and buy him a small house on the outside of town. When I built him I made him because i want to run him in the labrynth of madness. I want to get him to level 20 first and then take the labrynth. I have not found a group that still plays 2e so I have had trouble taking him from 15th to 20. But I have the labrynth of madness campaign, (I have never read it) but i have it so i can let a DM run it for me. I like not knowing. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Llwch Date : 01-13-07 11:16 PM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character my best charcter ever was my 3 one i ever made. Even in my (very rule tolerant) game, I wouldn't allow that. Unless, of course, you're a fighter-thief. Even then, with the long reload time (though they do wicked damage, but STILL!), I'm not sure anyone would want to play such a character. Historically, crossbows have only been really useful when there have been enough launchers to make a volley of it. Unlike longbows and shortbows, the crossbow is meant as direct fire, not as a ballistic weapon meant to rain from above. Still, it's good to see you're enjoying the 2nd edition rules. How many gamers are in your group, and how long have you guys been playing? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Mock26 Date : 01-16-07 06:02 PM Thread Title : Re: Most memorial character Nug Limbhacker. He was a hulking half-ogre fighter with a strength of 18/00 and an intelligence of 7 who threw battle axes as if they were hand axes. My favorite memory of Nug was when the group was hired by a town to destroy a thief's guild. The guild was in a large warehouse that that was converted into a fortress. At one point we were in a room with a locked door. We heard a sound on the other side of the door and the thief and Nug were right next to the door. The thief was trying to listen and Nug was getting bored with standing around. The DM said that we heard something brush against the door. The thief turned and silently tried to get the attention of the rest of the group and Nug simply said, "Nug grab spy!" At which point Nug punched right through the door. I rolled a natural 20 to hit and the DM ruled that I punched a near prefect fist-shaped hole in the door. He then had me roll to grab the enemy thief who was on the other side of the door, and I rolled another natural 20! The DM ruled that I grabbed him by the neck as he was listening at the door. I then decided to pull him through the door. Well, I had to make a strength check and I rolled a natural 1! The DM ruled that I yanked the door right off the hinges! As this was going on the thief just started screaming and thrashing on the other side of the door and his comrades started shooting arrows. I simply backed up and stood there as arrows thudded into the door and the enemy thief! The enemy found this more than a bit unnerving and fled. Nug carried that door around with him for quite some time. Eventually the poor thief stopped screaming and died. Unfortunately, we were in over our heads and had to beat a hasty retreat after a while. When we got back to that doorway Nug held the door in place while two members of the gorup nailed the door in place. That dead thief had so many arrows stuck in him that he was pinned to the door and stayed in place when I let go of him. That was a fun adventure! Take care and have a great day.... ciao, john. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:21 AM.
