Ok its a bit of a stretch but here's an excerpt from the Book of Nine Swords.

Previous wielders have included Jurrik, a noble paladin who used it to defend a hamlet from a marauding black dragon, and Lorissta, a virtuous champion who fought against the tyrannical Black Eagle Baron. When Lorissta fell, the sword was passed to one of the Black Eagle's lieutenants...

Wow- that's cool! I'm sure it must be a reference to ol' Ludwig. Is that from an excerpt on a legendary sword of some kind (sounds like it might be)?

I notice that one of the writers is Frank Brunner, who did the Red Steel article in Dragon #315, so perhaps that is where the Mystara reference comes from.

Yeah the sword in question is the Faithful Avenger a cold iron falchion. Its one of the nine swords from the book which use the weapons of legacy rules.
