Minis are a great way to enhance gaming.  Most of TSR's miniatures represented characters in Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms. I was wonder have any of you guys used certain minis to represent characters in Mystara (Aleena, de Ambervilles, the Veiled Society.)  

The D&D Basic Heroes set did provide a great Rakasta!

I'm so glad I have that set! :cool: 

I almost never use minis though. OTOH, I am thinking about using them for my current Blackmoor campaign. We were debating it last time, though it will be more for general reference. I don't want my games turning into anything even vaguely resembling board games. :(

My games utilize miniatures as well, but as Havard stated, they are only there for general reference (i.e. we pick whatever matches closest). They do not substitute descriptions or restrict what appears IMC.

They do make visualizing certain combat situations easier, especially when in conjunction with an erasable surface.

My group doesn't use them.  Largely because of the cost involved, but we also find that they erode RP to the point it seems like a D&D based board game.

I can see merit in using them for very complicated fights, but we've made due without them since OD&D's heyday.
