If you want hard copies, E-bay is the way to go, or Nobleknight games. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Escef Date : 03-05-07 03:05 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help There's also a few 2e modules available for free download on WotC's website, they can easily be tweaked for use in 1e. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : tenacious_kev Date : 03-06-07 02:31 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help They also have a bunch of 1st and 2nd adventures mixed together here. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads They have some good ones, no starting out dungeons, but good 8th level and beyond dungeons. Dungeons Land and Magic Mirror are good dungeons. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : emeriliath Date : 03-07-07 03:17 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help Fiendlurking, Good for you! I just starting a 1st ed game six months ago, and it's been a blast. Pdfs are fine, but for me, nothing is like having a real hard copy. I've found PLENTY on ebay, mostly at reasonable prices (plus shipping), and I'd highly recommend it. It's amazing that you can still get brand new rule books, let alone shrinkwrapped items from the 80's!!! Best of luck! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : fiendlurking Date : 03-07-07 09:05 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help Fiendlurking, Good for you! Thanks for all the help everybody!...ive continued my search and ive found some decent stuff used on amazon.com like dirt cheap as well!...i personally think the 1st edition game is what D&D was intended to be...it took the digests that initially came out and improved upon it...so IMO its the original, tweaked abit and i just love it...the 2nd edition was great as well...but thats about the time TSR started looking to make money off everyone...so while i loved alot of that stuff...everything after that went downhill IMO...thanks again -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : Escef Date : 03-08-07 01:33 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help ...thats about the time TSR started looking to make money off everyone... Little secret, every company on Earth is trying to make money. Honestly, as time went on TSR's policies became more and more ineffective. While they were still making money, they were losing it faster. Competing product lines, failed product lines, half the novels weren't selling. It was not a good time for the company. And in the mid 90's a lot of people thought Magic: the Gathering was going to destroy D&D. Which is ironic, as when Wizards saved D&D it was Magic sales that provided the capital to do so. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : chatdemon Date : 03-08-07 04:35 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help i am on a search for adventures, dungeons masters screens, or even just tables and such If you are open to unofficial, fan made stuff, www.dragonsfoot.org has a ton of 1st edition material. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 03-08-07 04:41 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help Hello all, I have recently been on a mission to start a huge AD&D 1st edition campaign, and while i have all the sourcebooks for the edition i am on a search for adventures, dungeons masters screens, or even just tables and such i can print online to help me along the way...does anybody have any ideas where i can get this info for strictly AD&D 1st edition info?...any help would be appreciated! Welcome aboard Fiend! Are you interested in just the 'generic' modules or are you looking for a particular campaign setting? Just wondering out of idle interest. Also, have you played other editions of D&D? What made you turn to 1st ed? Again, curiousity is getting the better of me. I've stated a few times my stance on the superiority of the 1st and 2nd editions, and whilst this may not have been your motivation, I'm always interested to hear other people's views on the subject. Good luck in finding what you are after, but I really have no other avenues apart from those suggested. You'll find yourself in good company here. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 03-08-07 04:43 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help As an aside, has anyone had the opportunity to look at the Goodman games D20 modules? I mean the ones with the first edition style covers. I'd appreciate any review on them (admittedly they are third edition) and whether they are worth converting. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : fiendlurking Date : 03-08-07 07:50 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help Welcome aboard Fiend! Yes, i have played all versions of D&D, when i was a kid i got interested in playing D&D with a couple of my friends...we started playing AD&D 1st ed then...we all had a couple of the digest D&D's...but those were the holy grail, we never touched those...lol...we did make the switch to 2nd edition...and i remember that being a great edition as well until i realized a couple years into it...that TSR was just pimping the stuff out...the edition was great but then they had these sourcebooks for everything (volos guide to taking a pee in greyhawk)...whatever there was just too much stuff and it was all overpriced...then when 3.0 came out...same deal it was going along good the players handbook was only 20.00 bucks...then boom they came out with a later edition, slapped a 29.95 price tag on it...then thats when the pimping began...i played 3.0 for awhile but the battle system was sorta overplayed for my taste...so sooner than later i just sorta decided to sell all my books that werent 1st edition (i had a couple) so im now in the process of re-purchasing 1st edition stuff, and since im 33 years old...once i purchase all that stuff im just gonna play that version till im grey haired...lol so to sum all this up... ...the main 2 reasons for me being disgruntled about newer systems is. #1 the price for everything...after all isnt this suppossed to be a game for kids?...sure alot of us adults play and kids these days have alot more money than they used to...but 40 or 50 bucks for 1 game book come on? and #2 the sheer volume of game books...being a player and DM i like to play alot of different types of games but i see TSR pimping out all this new crappy stuff and then abandoning older important settings such as greyhawk, birthright, mystara, ravenloft and so forth...i mean sure you can buy dragonlance or forgotten realms settings if your willing to shell out 50 bucks on 1 book...to me its just crazy...i think the game has gone very far from what Gary gygax and dave Arneson intended...so for my money im gonna put it all into the 1st edition stuff...the funny thing is, i have started buying a bunch of stuff off amazon so i now have about half the 1st edition books...but on amazon you can buy theese for like 3 bucks a piece plus shipping...so im averaging paying about 5 bucks a piece...so when its all said and done i should have every sourcebook for about a 100 bucks...whats not to love about that?...now all i have to do is re learn the old systems and stuff..lol -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Clangador Date : 03-16-07 02:20 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help Most used book stores should have 1e/2e books fairly often. I have one game shop and three used book stores withing 20 minutes of me that carry AD&D stuff. It's not hard to find at all. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Author : WizO_Paradox Date : 03-18-07 04:22 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help The best book ever, no matter what your edition of game, or even type of game is the Campaign Sourcebook & Catacomb Guide. (It was 2nd edition.) This book covered how to play and deal with problem players. It also had a section on making maps. It's what the DMG should have been, IMO. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 14] Author : Escef Date : 03-18-07 06:20 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help The best book ever, no matter what your edition of game, or even type of game is the Campaign Sourcebook & Catacomb Guide. Not sure if I had that or not, but it sounds very similar to the 1e Dunguoneers' Survival Guide. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 15] Author : evisceratedmemories Date : 03-25-07 06:55 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help I have found a bunch of stuff on Amazon.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : Horemheb442 Date : 03-29-07 03:20 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D 1st edition Items - Help I have a 1st Ed DMs Screen and even a Players Screen I could get scanned and send to you, if you still want or need them.
