So it all started when I was in Victoria, perusing the merchandise at my favourite nonlocal gaming store. It was there that I heard rumours of a gaming store of some description being bought out by a store called Liquidation World. As luck would have it, This store is right near where I live, so last weekend I went down to find a sizable collection of old gaming products, of which I bought: Dragonlance Classics vol. 3 Module DLS3 (Oak Lords) Module DLE3 (Dragon Keep) Accesory DLR3 (Unsung Heroes) Module DLT1 (New Tales) Labyrinth of Madness Module SJS1 (Goblins Return) Module LNA1 (Thieves of Lankhmar) Priest's Screen Legends of the Hero-Kings (Birthright) Adam's Wrath (Ravenloft) Module HWA3 (Nightstorm) Dragon Magazine# 190, 192, 195, 198, 199, 211, 212, 213, 223 TSR 1990 Product Catalogue I got all these things for 90% off what the store had been charging for them, which came out to about $27-28 Canadian. All were shrink-wrapped except the Birthright book, the product catalogue, and the magazines (I have also opened the Dragonlance Classics book and the Ravenloft Adventure). The only one that is not in pristine condition is the Hollow World Adventure, which, while still in the original shrink wrap, has a small amount of damage in one of its corners. So my question is, is any of this stuff worth saving, or not opening, or going back and buying more of? I have checked prices on Ebay, and from what I can see, I made a small amount of profit on every item, but still not very much. Thanks. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Llwch Date : 04-03-07 03:37 AM Thread Title : Re: How good a deal did I just make, anyway? I have checked prices on Ebay, and from what I can see, I made a small amount of profit on every item, but still not very much. Thanks. Having had some luck with selling RPG stuff on eBay, I imagine that your best bet is to sell the items as "lots" - where you sell more than one item at once. Try to match them thematically, and you'll likely have more success. I bought a lot of items that were Ravenloft themed, kept the few I wanted and sold the rest with an item that was a duplicate of something I already had. The selling price of the lot I sold was slightly greater than the original price I paid for the first lot. So, I basically got some new books for free, and got rid of some duplicates in the process. You can make money on eBay (or at least, break even, which is equally good) - but do your homework first, and sell what you know you can get money for. Here's some free advice: Do not sell single items if there are a bunch of them available as singles at eBay stores - make a lot of items, and make the package tempting (without losing your shirt). Avoid using BIN ("Buy It Now"), unless you intend to limit the final selling price. Try to avoid setting a reserve price, just start the bidding at the minimum price you'll accept. If your auction is a 7-day auction, start it late on Sunday (assuming that you're in North America), so the "feeding frenzy" of bidding can be timed to take place when your likely bidders are awake and able to bid. If you're doing a 10-day auction (which costs more, but can work to your benefit, too), start the auction late on Thursday for the same reason. Hope this helps! Good luck! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Wyrmbane Date : 04-06-07 09:16 PM Thread Title : Re: How good a deal did I just make, anyway? I'm one of these people that would tell you NOT to sell them, but that's me. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:15 AM.
