I picked up the newest edition books, but I'm wondering if the older modules are usable in 3.5 ed. Could anyone answer this question? thanks -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : RobertFisher Date : 04-24-07 10:48 AM Thread Title : Re: Compatability question Personally, I have always found coverting modules on-the-fly to be fairly straight-forward between any game systems. Just ignore the mechanics in the module & substitute the appropriate mechanic from the system you're playing. Of course, between all pre-2000 editions of (A)D&D, you can often get by using the mechanics/stats in the module because the systems are similar enough. 3e is--in my experience--different enough from the older editions that you're better off treating it more as a foreign system. Your milage may vary. Personally, after thinking that 3e was what I'd always wanted D&D to be & then spending a few years playing it, I decided I preferred classic D&D. So, let me suggest that you consider using the older rules. Newer does not always mean better. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Higmorton Date : 04-28-07 04:44 PM Thread Title : Re: Compatability question Why not just have acopy of the 3.5 monster manual, and substute the difference for the races 1st and/0r 2nd modules with 3.5 monsters. The explaination of the adventure would remain the same. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 05-01-07 08:02 AM Thread Title : Re: Compatability question I concur with both of the learned fellows before me. I've been running some of the classic modules as 3.0 in recent months and all I've bothered doing is keeping a 3.0 MM at hand and making the rest up as necessary. Admittedly, I place magic items rather than use the treasure given in the modules, so it might be handy to double-check how certain magic items function in the new system (and whether they still exist at all). On the whole, it wouldn't matter what module you pick up, whether D&D or not. Given a little time and effort, any module/sourcebook can be cannabalised to any setting.
