From a post on ENWorld, regarding the contents of Dungeon #147: Prison Mail - Letters this month include positive responses to issue #144's editorial about playing opposte-gender characters, and praise for Bargle appearing in that same issue. James also lets it slip that issue #150 will have an updated version of the original adventure with Bargle, from the Red Boxed Set! So a Return to the Keep of Bargle- Castle Mistamere, IIRC, from the Red Box, in Dungeon Magazine #150. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : havard Date : 05-01-07 03:31 PM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? So a Return to the Keep of Bargle- Castle Mistamere, IIRC, from the Red Box, in Dungeon Magazine #150. This is something I have been wanting to see! I am wondering if Bargle will make an appearance there. What reason would he have for coming back? And what of Aleena? I could certainly see Bargle seeking some twisted revenge and kidnapping Aleena taking her back to the original castle to torture her. Or perhaps Aleena hears of Bargle's return to the castle and sends some adventurers to do her dirty work, avoiding to go there herself since that place brings on too many painful memories.... Juicy goodness like this in the last issues of Dragon is making me even more sad that the mags are going away! :weep:  Havard -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Culture20 Date : 05-01-07 05:56 PM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? Bargle pops off to Castle Mistamere to slap Aleena the Cleric about. Frankly i dont see it. He deserts Blackeagle to the overwhelming forces of destruction, skipping off to Alphatia to scrounge for Secrets in the ruins, then shows up on the flying City of Serraine to assist a baddie take-over. If anything he is pulling together the resources and secrets to build his own flying fortress. Why bother popping by to slap Aleena around unless he has decided to abduct her as his Bride. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : havard Date : 05-02-07 04:50 PM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? Oh, I think you're all going to be pleased with the adventure. It's going to be written by Jason Bulmahn, and from hearing him talk about it, it's gonna be sweet! :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : yellowdingo Date : 05-03-07 06:40 PM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? As I recall there were living statues of Bargle wandering about the dungeon level...something that isnt in the Monster Manual. Admit it! Bargle is a chaotic (renegade) OARD? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : Dualwolf Date : 05-04-07 01:21 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? Sorry to go off topic but.... Is there a list of anacronyms around here somewhere?! It took me long enough to figure out what WotI means (I hope to god it means Wrath of the Immortals anyway!). Now I have "oard" to work out? It took me about three months and a lot of blind luck to work out what WotI means. I have little intention to lose anymore sleep lol. EDIT: Just for the record, living statues where in the ODND (Old dungeons And Drangons lol) monster section (crystal statues I think where the most likely) just not in 3.0/3.5 DnD. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 05-04-07 02:38 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? I'll try and dig them up (they were intended to go in the FAQ, but I got overambitious on that project and it overwhelmed me). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : Arcanda Date : 05-04-07 06:16 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? They have a striking resemblance to the Borg of Star Trek and some say the Borg were based on Oards. Havavrd -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Author : Arcanda Date : 05-04-07 07:52 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? I still dont know how they will justify a return to Mistamere by Bargle unless it is one of his relatives, a clone or a living statue in his image. Bargle has better things to do than pull the limbs of Traladarans. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 16] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 05-06-07 02:13 PM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? A little more info: Dungeon 150 This month's Dungeon features three exciting D&D adventures including "Kill Bargle!" a low-level D&D adventure in which the PCs must rescue a cleric from a twisted and cruel wizard, So it looks like it won't be so much a "Return To..." as just a reworking of the original adventure. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 17] Author : yellowdingo Date : 05-07-07 06:42 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness? A little more info: So it looks like it won't be so much a "Return To..." as just a reworking of the original adventure. That might be better than the alternative. The original was incomplete anyway. there was supposed to be a second dungeon level where Bargle (a 5th-7th level Wizard) had a base of operations, a bodyguard of charmed ogres, and living crystal statues dressed like him functioning as his decoys. ...a magicuser named Gygar, a man of great and mysterious powers. He ruled the lands from his mighty castle Mistamere... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 18] Author : Cthulhudrew Date : 08-07-07 12:33 AM Thread Title : Last issue of Dungeon Well, this is it, ladies and gents- the last hard copy of the Dungeon for the forseeable future. From the ENWorld boards: Kill Bargle, by Jason Bulmahn - This adventure for 3rd-level characters is an update of the original adventure from the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Dungeon Masters' Rulebook. The notorious evil mage Bargle is wanted, dead or alive, for the murder of the cleric Aleena. The PCs have tracked him to Castle Mistamere, and must venture inside to visit justice upon this notorious enemy. Something else that might be of note: Complete Dungeon Index, by Christopher Perkins and James Jacobs - This massive index covers everything Dungeon has ever given us - everything. The adventures are broken up into various headers, and listed from lowest levels to highest, each listing have the level of the adventure, its title, its author, and the issue it appeared in. The headers themselves cover AD&D 1E, 2E, 3E, 3.5E, D&D Basic Rules, D&D Expert Rules, all of the various campaign settings, Marvel Super Heroes, Top Secret, Polyhedron mini-games, Star Wars articles, d20 Modern articles, the different Campaign Workbook articles, Maps of Mystery, and Global Positioning. Additionally, it covers the top ten locations and top ten villains that either originated in the magazine, or came into their own in it. This is, quite simply, the only Dungeon index you'll ever need. Anyone get this yet? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 19] Author : stanles Date : 08-07-07 07:22 AM Thread Title : Re: Last issue of Dungeon Well, this is it, ladies and gents- the last hard copy of the Dungeon for the forseeable future. From the ENWorld boards: Something else that might be of note: Anyone get this yet? my subscription just came in the post yesterday (ships to subscribers Jul 24 ... I ask you). I thought it was quite nice that the the adventures were separated out in this way. I do wonder about the veracity of the whole list however, take for example the adventure Voyage of the Crimpshrine from issue 59. The adventure itself mentions Mystara and even has a Mystara logo on the first page, and yet in the list it's just an AD&D 2nd Edition adventure. Also curiously for this one, the list has it as an adventure for 1st - 4th level characters. The contents page for the issue says the same thing. The adventure says levels 3 to 5. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 20] Author : havard Date : 08-07-07 10:26 AM Thread Title : Re: More Bargliciousness?
