I have started to devise a new continet in Dragonlance. I know that there will be low demand for it but I am going to do it anyway. What I would like to do is make the continent more player based then my own. So I would like to ask you all a big favor. I am creating this continent from scratch. I have a few ideas and such but would like to have some input from people who actually might be interested. Just a few ideas, a name, a famous person. I am designing the world to be current in the world of Krynn.

The location of the continent is 2500 miles east of the Blood Sea of Istar. Why hasn't anyone ever been there before, well it's 2500 miles away and everyone knows that there is nothing out there but endless sea.

Well here are a couple of my ideas.
Cities:
Portswind: Major city
Dovedale: Large Village
Loren: Minor city
Solon: Elven capital
Red Home:Dwarven Trade City

Peoplemajor figures, royalty, or adventure)
Aton Brenswick: Minor Noble (H) fighter
Gerrin Draxa: (HE) fighter
Ren Draxa: (H) mage (red)
Jonathon SwiftenH) Cleric (healing, aka mishakal)
Arlian BrokenlockK)Thief

Countries:
Portswind

If you could give me some help I would appreciate it. I will post the finish project somewhere when it is done. That is if anyone would like to see it. If not thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm glad that you're creating your own DL material, Gerrin - it seems like a number of people are afraid to release anything until the DLCS comes out. For something of this scope (a new continent), the first questions that come to mind are these:

What is the "theme" of your continent? What makes your continent unique? What organizations exist? How are cultures similar/different? Are there any new races? Did the Cataclysm affect them at all?

I know that you may have already been working through your own steps, but this is what comes to my mind.

As for contributors - let me know more about the continent, and I might be able to send you some material... I'm rather busy right now & about 10 minutes ago I half-agreed to the lexicon "project".

What is the "theme" of your continent?
My continent's theme or primary focus is adventure. Here is a little background of the continent. Prior to the cataclysm the continent was ruled three very powerful kingdoms. These kingdoms were prosperous and strong. Even though there were small skirmishes there was never any true hostility. That is until the cataclysm. Unaware that all of the world was affected these countries blamed each other for the loss of gods. Major wars broke out and the armies decimated each other to the point that the countries were weak. The citizens of these countries began to blame their government and riots broke out and many citizens fled to the wildlands and created small settlements. These settlements prospered after time and became small countries.
The old large powerful countries were all nearly destroyed and a vast majority of land they once ruled is under the power of no one. There is a large goblin horde that rules a part of these former countries. Also elves inhabit the forest and have expanded their kingdom through trade with the dwarves of Red Home. The last great ancient human city is Portswind belonging to kingdom of Tornay.

With the return of the gods through the war of the lance (to people here the gods were just back) the people have begun to rebuild religion and rid themselves of the false religions. The older kingdoms (the three that fought the mega war) began to rebuild power only to have it shattered when the world was stolen. Again the three launched into battle. The battle continues to this day no where near the level it was during the catacylsm but still a battle of immense proportion. The goblin horde has allied itself with the orge isles and is planning to conquer much of the northern land that is now in control of minotaurs. They believe that with the resources of this land they will be able to fight off the surviving kingdoms before attcking the small wildland kingdoms.

With the return of the world the countries have a temporary peace established. (peace that is often filled with small wars and skirmishes) They do not understand what has happened to two of the gods and speculate that someone has kidnapped them or has caused them to dismiss their world.

What makes your continent unique?
The Dragon overlords never came to this continent. It has never been involved in a major development in Ansalon. Dragons here are the smaller breed.
What organizations and countries exist?
There are three ancient kingdoms (Tornay, and two others)
The Wildland kingdoms
The Goblin Nation (Domin)
The Dwarven Nation (Red Home)
The Elven Nation
a few small independent sea ports and villages
Northern Minotaurs
Orge Isles

Organizations
Blademasters
Knights of Tornay
Knights of Rolad
Silver Axes
Guild of Battlemages

These cultures are similiar in retrospect that both of them are from Dragonlance and have similiar European thought. They are unique because every culture develops differently at different rates. They also never truly understood what happened to the gods. Instead they are distrustful of other nations in power.
