With the impending release of D&D3.5, what changes, if any, are the DS3 team going to make to what has already been written?

The main goal is to keep it written and compatible with 3.5 format.

Pretty sure the Druid is going to be closer to the 3.5 druid, and I think we are going to use the 3.5 Ranger as is with a few modifications, that is still being debated though. Go ahead and take all of that with a grain of salt or two.

Besides the changes with the druids and rangers, it doesn't really sound like the 3.5 revisions would have much if any noticible impact on the core rules set for Dark Sun. 3.5 alters a few of the races a bit, but Athas doesn't use the standardized ones anyhow. Athas has its own version of each core class that may or may not need retooling after the 3.5 release. Basically, it sounds like very little needs rewritten. Granted, a few spells may need retouched, as well as the Terrors of Athas and Terrors of the Deadlands creatures (you know they planned the revision of the MM to coincide with your upcomming ToA release, don't you ) Also, (and I forget who was being interviewed) someone mentioned more depth and developement of weather and evironmental hazards! Yeeaaayyy! Heat rules that don't suck! (err. . . thay may still suck, but I'm being optimistic).

That is correct, very few changes, and we are planning both the core and ToA release for sometime after 3.5 is out.

Again, more salt.

Again, more salt.

*ahem* You aren't implying that they might be ready before 3.5 comes out, are you?

I suppose that we're alright considering that the DS3 team has the ability to modify the system quickly unlike a hardbound publisher. I guess my question was more to the point of how "in tune" DS3 would be with the new revisions.

Not sure I understand what it is you want, but it will be intune.

However, like Mach said you aren't going to see another core PHB etc with just DS flavor text. so while some spells and mechanics in general will be "in tune", the flavor and what the classes and races actually get will be different from what you will see in core D&D etc.

Any clearer?
