What should I do? I'm stuck in the war of the Lance.

Ok, I am a new poster and I have read a few of these threads I am soooooo lost. I left Krynn after the Legends series some of the Tales and books like that and reading some of the histories ie. Elven Nations. I read one book that talked about Sturm's son who was a knight of Takhisis, I believe. And I stopped there. Before this last book Dragonlance was complete for me. It was absolute perfection. The addition of more wars and so on sort of ruined "my Krynn" for me.

Well onto my question. I have bought many, many of the dragonlance sourcebooks/modules. It took me many years to assemble the complete set of modules and I later added the 3 mega-modules that had all of the others contained in it. I have the DL adventures books .. the boxed set ... the Dwarves boxed set ... Taladas boxed set... the atlas... and so on. I haven't gamed in many years and saw the emergence of 3.5 to be a good time to get back to it. I have always wanted to play through the war of the lance .. but have yet to do so. Now with the new sourcebook coming out I am at a loss of what to do. Do I attempt to convert my old modules over to 3.5? Will I get enough info in the Age of Mortals to do this. Or should I wait till next year when the war of the lance stuff is released? I wonder if that means the modules will be redone.

Geez .. a lot of questions. Let me narrow it down. Should I attempt to start a 5th age campaign.. or what ever it is called now, and wait till next year to go back and play the war of the lance. Or should I start play of the WOTL as soon as I get my DLCS?

You can do whatever you or your gaming group want !

If you want to start immediately, you could start a Fifth Age campaign and during the course of the campaign add some time travelling to end up just before (or during) the War of the Lance. So you can both use the new books and your old stuff !

I would say pick up the DLCS in the store and read over the geography chapter. If you like what you see, then just dive in.

There many benefits to playing post WoS:

You are no longer clean-up crew for the insufferable Heroes of the Lance.

You have a backstory to explain 3e changes.

You have a geography chapter. I mean, with maps and everything.

If you don't like what you see, then wait a year for the "Age of Darkness" sourcebook. That'll have a geography chapter as well.

I think you mean War of the Lance.

Age of Mortals should have some good geography info as well, and you'll be able to get it at the same time as the DLCS.

Yeah, thanks for your ideas. I just ordered one of the DLCS from Weis's site so I will have a better idea in a few days or so. I guess I could go pick up some of the later novels and get some info from there as well. This is an exciting time for D&D and Dragonlance ... with the release of 3.5, release of DL products, etools patches finally being done.
