Could someone please tell me the lifespans of the races of krynn?
I'd like to know how old an elf would be if he had a mentality of a 13 year old human for example. Elves live longer and take longer to grow into adults. I needed to know that for a story.

I'd say 65 because the become adults (about 20 yrs old) when they're 100...........I think.

After drawing it out, if 20=120, then 13=75. This was crudely done but maybe it'll help. Read the Kindred Spirits of the Meeting Sextet series. I believe they portray Tanis, Porthios, Gilthanas, and Lauranan all growing up. I'm sure they're around that age and may have mentioned some ages that you can use. It's been a while since I read it though.

what about Gilthas and Silvanoshei?

They were no more than 50, and they were considered grown ups

In accordance with Nexus Rules, elves are considered adults around the age of 80, which I would compare to 15 human years, considering it is a medieval setting. So, that'd be 5 1/3 human years per 1 elf year. So, simply take 80 and reduce that by 10 2/3, to equal about 69 1/3 as the elven equivalent to 13. I hope this helps.

Were they? I never got that vibe at all. I definetly didn't read that they were considered adults. Especially Gilthanas. I see him as the young and adventerous type, since he wasn't going to get to inherit the kingdom and all. And Silvanoshei, I feel, was never considered an adult, but maybe Alhana was too protective.

Silvan I definately saw as the young teen type. Gilthas I saw as later teens if not early twenties. But remember he is partially (25%) human, so that would explain the difference.

Elves mature slower than humans, but they're probably fully grown and capable of acting like adults at around 30 years old. Their long lives are not supposed to reflect a human life drawn out in proportion, but merely a slightly slower maturity with an extremely long life expectancy on the end of it.

In other words, elves and half-elves mature before their 30th birthday, but will stop showing signs of physical age for hundreds of years (in the case of elves) afterwards. Lorac and Solostaran were both very old at the time of their deaths and neither died of "old age". Tanis is about 100 years old at the time of Chronicles, so he's definitely hitting the point of middle age - which he most definitely has reached by the time of Dragons of Summer Flame. I'd extend half-elf life in Dragonlance slightly longer than in the core PHB, but not by much.

Cheers,
Cam

With half-elves, I wouldn't just extend it a small amount, I'd extend it quite a bit. My reasoning behind this was that in Chronicles, I got the impression that Tanis was close to hitting middle age, but wasn't quite there yet, and he was around 100 years old. The PHB (v3.0) states that half-elves are middle aged by their early sixties. That's about forty years difference, which by personal judgement, is quite a bit. Just my two steel on the matter.

Quite right. Double the span between age categories, perhaps, and you may approach a better range.

Well...when we first meet Tanis in Chronicles...he is 102 years old, and he dies at the age of 134.

We first meet Laurana at the age of 80...and she dies at the ripe young age of 155.

Gilthanas is 110 years old during the War of the Lance. And I think Porthios was 10 years his senior (if I remember correctly).

Then you've got Gilthas (Tanis and Laurana's son) who was born shortly after the Blue Lady's War. Which makes Gilthas (who is quarter human, remember) a little less than 70 years old during the War of Souls.

Silvanoshei, on the otherhand, who is full blood elf, was born during the Chaos War, so he is only 43 years old during the War of Souls. Making him barely an adolesent (which is obvious by the way his annoying behaviour).
